Capabilities:
The ill-fated Grillmaster project began as an attempt by Ceres metals to produce a heavier
alternative to the Vindicator for the Capellan Confederation's armies. The design acquired
it's odd name after an accident during trials for the design's Weber flamers. The Weber
Corporation, itself a subsidiary of the giant Ceres Metals, developed the Weber flamer as an
alternative to the more expensive Zippo flamer. Unfortunately, Weber made up for the lower
price tag by using substandard parts; among other things the fuel-line seals were liable to
corrode when exposed to petroleum by-products. The design's flamers exploded during the
trials, completely destroying the Weber factory, and killing hundreds of workers in the
ensuing fire. As Ceres had already signed a contract for the flamers, it was impossible to
back out of the deal and replace the faulty flamers without driving the design over budget.
As a safety precaution, the was 'mech is equipped with a fire-suppression which the pilot
can activate in the event of flamer malfunction. The fire-suppression system, mounted in
the 'mech's head, covers the 'mech with fire-retardant foam, making the design appear as
though it is foaming at the mouth.
The other weapons systems function with few or no problems. The PPC and AC/5 combination
provide strong long-range firepower, and the 'mech's eight SRM tubes can unleash a swarm of
missiles against enemies that get in under the main guns.
Game rules note: the Grillmaster's flamers malfunction on a to-hit of two, regardless of
any other circumstances. Neither flamer can be fired until the system is repaired, a task
which takes an average tech six hours. The hex in which the 'mech is standing, and the
first hex in the line of fire of the attempted flamer shot, automatically catch fire. The
Grillmaster's fire suppression system protects it from the heat effects of the fire for
three rounds.
Deployment:
Despite it's promise, the faulty flamer system has ensured that the Grillmaster is deployed
only in the backwater units of the Capellan military. It was originally deployed with
considerable infantry support, but this practice was ended after several companies of
infantry were accidently destroyed by the 'mech's malfunctioning flamers.

Pyromaniacs must love this and rate it with 5.5 points, but I'll give it a little less. Heat sinks are just strong enough to use main guns on the move, but in short range battle the mech can overheat quickly without careful pilot. Otherwise it doesn't rise above other mechs of the era, but fluff and FIREpower force me to give high rating.

Its hard to give this a five.
fhere are the reasons:
1) no jump jets
2) flmaers are too short ranged for its armour
3) runs very hot.
The pros, though are:
1) nice lineup, considering it is level 1 tech.
2) Fusion is always good
3) good power for medium range.
The fluff is nice and the weapons are okay, to be honest, I wouldn't pilot one of these because if caught in a crossfire, I would not be able to use its full potential.

I'm impressed this made it to production. I mean I helped make it!!
Good damage and range with decent armor and speed for it's size and era. Heat dissipation is subpar for shotting all weapons but in it's day such was the case with most designs. I love the cooler in the cockpit as well as the command couch produced by Laz-E-Boi which was omitted from the fluff.

I think most pilots would be very reluctant to pilot such a dangerous mech especially when the flamers have a bad habit of malfunctioning, and has a major heat problem but if you're selctive about what you fire it should be alright. pretty good design for a bunch of drunken engineers.

The Grillmaster's a nice, solid design. Its unfair for me to rate it probably... but :-p
Good weapons spread and armour allows it to function in many roles. Only the lack of jump jets prevents it from getting five stars
