Overview:
The number of 'mechs at the Star League's disposal enabled the SLDF to deploy a proportion
of specialist configurations far in excess of specialized designs deployed by the Successor
States, who's limited 'mech resources deter military commanders from configuring 'mechs for
use in specific situations. The LCT-17B is an example of such a specialist configuration.
Capabilities:
The LCT-17 was envisioned as a dedicated infantry hunter. It was typically deployed in a
lance with three Locust-1Vs, which could provide heavier firepower against any armor
opposition, while the LCT-17 would use it's Beagle Probe to detect hidden infantry unts
before they could ambush the thinly armored Locusts. It was never deployed alone, as it's
lack of anti-mech weapons left it vulnerable, although it's speed constitutes a significant
defense.
Deployment:
The LCT-17 saw heavy action during the urban warfare which characterized the Reunification
War and the early battles of the Succession Wars. It was never a widely popular 'mech, but
many of it's pilots developed considerable tactical skill, learning to exploit the
capabilities of this unique 'mech to the utmost.

Again, very dependant on ammo.
In the 'Not Good' column, removeing the SRMs for MGs means that this mech has to be even closer to the target if it wishes to do damage. This mech is going to spend a lot of time running.
When used to root out and destroy unarmored infantry, this will be a useful design. When caught by something a little more substantial, its going to be a rather big bullseye.

I think that LCT-1Vs can deal with the infantry without help and Mongoose was created as a beagle carrier for Locust scout lances. This seems to be weak scout. LCT-17 can kill tanks, but with this you must run as fast as you can, or you are dead.

In the Star League this is a viable design. By the time 3025 rolls around its a sucide configuration.
It merits a 2 just on that fact. Because at one time it worked and was awesome. Now its merely a little worse than average.

The three MGs, high speed, and strong armor will make this a strong infantry hunter. The Beagle Probe could be weapons; five machine guns would be devastating, for example. If it's deployed as you describe, with some normal Locusts insupport, it will be able to survive in an area where 'Mechs are operating. If in a duel or cut off by 'Mechs or tanks, this thing is dead.

You have the speed of the Locust and the Armour is decent. But while the trio of MGs is decent against infantry it is weak against anything else.Three MGs is not enough armament for a mech. The limited range and low throw weight make this a mech of limited value, fair against infantry against anything else it is badly minced mint flavoured dog food
