Overview:
Despite the sundering of the Federated Commonwealth, the Federated Suns and Lyran Alliance
still maintain relatively close ties. One manifestation of this closeness is the BRZ-D3, a
Berserker variant produced by Kallon Industries under license from Defiance. Like many other
new Davion 'Mechs, the primary purpose of the BRZ-D3 is to strengthen the AFFS and
reestablish a unique "Davion" style on the battlefield.
Capabilities:
Like all Berserkers, the BRZ-D3 is designed to be the terror of the battlefield. The ER PPC
gives it a solid long range punch, and the paired large pulse lasers provide significant
firepower at medium ranges. The removal of the usual MASC and AMS provided enough tonnage
for a targeting computer, which helps the Berserker hit targets even at a full run. The
Guardian ECM Suite remains to protect against advanced targeting and sensor systems. The
head mounted flamer has been replaced with an ER medium laser, which inflicts more damage at
a longer range, something designers considered far more frightening than a bit of harmless
fire. Triple-strength myomer replaces the undependable MASC system to give the BRZ-D3 enough
speed to bring its hatchet into play, without the risk of the damage caused by a MASC
failure. The TSM also lets the BRZ-D3 inflict significantly more damage with its hatchet
than previous variants were capable of.
Deployment:
As fighting against the Combine tends to be more brutal than against the Confederation, most
BRZ-D3s are deployed in the Draconis March. As one of the best supplied militias in the
AFFS, the Addicks Draconis March Militia is the only non-front-line unit to deploy BRZ-D3s.
The Addicks DMM deploys a reinforced company trained for urban combat, consisting of a lance
each of Hatchetmen, Nightskies, Axmen, and Berserkers. This company recently distinguished
itself by crushing an "unauthorized" raid by a Drac heavy company on Towne. Nine of the the
Combine 'Mechs were salvaged, along with the Nightsky and Hatchetman which were the DMM's
only disabled 'Mechs. The gun-cam footage of the Militia commander's Berserker decapitating
the Kuritan commander's Sunder is used by Kallon Industries as an advertisment, along with
the slogan "Off with his head!"

Comment:
There are only three large weapons on the chassis, but the TC allows precise long range strikes. Under TW rules the 'Mech can't concentrate pulse laser hits to one location, so the D3 has to rely on it's physical attacks for concentrated damage. I'm afraid that the TC suddenly lost it's usefulness here, so it would be a good idea to replace it wot something else. The TSM makes the hatchet attacks devastating and keeping it engaged can be easily accomplished by turning a few DHSs off. A nice refit.

I modded out a beserker in much the same way a while ago and it probably one of the most enjoyable 'mechs I have ever dealt with. Nothing beats this 'mech for sheer ferocity and in close destructive power. Hell, you can cleave the limbs off an assault 'mech if it got too close. I dont remember how I ran it but I know there is a weapons set very similar to this one that will maintain the overheating requirement of the 3X mymomer. The only reason that this 'mech doesn't rate a 5 is for the problem maintaining the overheat and for its lack of jumping capability. This is a close in 'mech, no bones about it, and in most close in situations (ie: cityfighting, canyon fighting, etc.) jump is very important.

Its a good above average design. But your lacking the ability to keep it overheated. I can get it to 9 heat after 3 careful volleys. However, there is no way to keep it there.
Logical upgrade is pulling one of the Large Pulses, and mounting enough various laser type weapons to get you to produce 30, or 31, or 32, heat on command. As it stands your choices are okay as you can hit 30 but sometimes you might want more flexibility.
Its the best Hatchet mech I've ever rated in the assault class. Doesn't mean I like the idea yet though.;)

Now this is my kind of mech. I couldn't care less about the Fed Suns, though, but the mech is very well designed.
Raw power nd accuracy at long range makes this deign stand out above other mechs in its class. The speed and the hatchet combined make a winning combo if the opponent underestimates you and the armor prctects the pilot well in such situations.
