Overview:
During the course of the FedCom Civil War, a number of Hauptmann OmniMechs were captured by
units which are now a part of the AFFS. The HA1-OD is used as the primary close combat
variant for these 'Mechs, and makes use of technology unique to the Federated Suns.
Capabilities:
The HA1-OD's primary armament is a pair of rotary AC/5's, giving it a potentially heavy
damage profile, without the weight or ammunition restrictions of heavy autocannons, and
without the close range difficulties of Gauss Rifles. A Streak SRM 6 provides extra punch at
closer ranges. Three ER Medium lasers round out the weapons array, and also provide the only
firepower when the 'Mech depletes its ammunition. To prevent this situation, the HA1-OD
mounts six tons of ammunition for its autocannons, and two more for its missile launchers.
The lasers and autocannon are linked to a Targeting Computer, which increases their accuracy
and makes sure that few shots go to waste. Similar in combat profile to the JM7-F JagerMech,
the HA1-OD performs best in urban environments, where its enemies can't attack it from
beyond its own range.
Deployment:
These 'Mechs are deployed haphazardly throughout the AFFS, usually in whatever units
happened to capture Hauptmanns during the Civil War. The Deneb Light Cavalry and other units
where such heavy machines didn't fit in generally traded them for lighter 'Mechs. As a
result, the heaviest concentration of Hauptmanns is in the Royal Brigade, mainly in the
Heavy and Assault Guards.

Comment:
Both RACs and SRM launcher are well supplied with ammo, but single hit to right torso can change that. Pilot is probably going to fire like mad to lower the probability of explosion. Due to the installation of TC the firepower is somewhat lighter than on the other Hauptmann configs, but allows the mech to concentrate dangerous hailstorm of AC shells to single location. I think that money invested here aren't lost. Overall tough mech that can throw a lot of firepower on the enemy, but it can't do that forever. Once the ammo for ACs is gone the enemy should be dead or Hauptmann D should be already retreating. Due to the ammo concentrated in single location the mech is easier to disarm, so be careful when facing enemies with heavy weapons, TC or AP ammo.

I can't explain why I like it, other than the RACs, and Targeting Computer. Its fairly cheap and has a standard Fusion engine too and lots of armour.
I'd argue too much ammo is stacked in the right torso but its cased so its all good. I'd spread the ammo out a bit and sacrifice half a ton of armour to split it between left and right torsos.
Still its a solid assault mech.
