A more flexible variant of the -1N but one I don“t like. The lasers give it a decent short to medium range capability but putting all of them into one arm calls for losing them all. |

Okay, we'll replace the PPC with a few lasers and downgrade the LRMs for more heat sinks. What will we get? A small (yes it tops the med class, but...) Grasshopper! I'm not sure if I like it, but it can still be a useful tool to smash the enemy. It can run and fire it's lasers without any heat problems and the mobility is one of the best you can get in this class. It can't force a piloting skill roll without the LRMs (and doing so with them may be difficult due to range penalties), but it's quite powerful for it's size and time era. |

Never been fond of this Griffin unless I'm on a seriously extended mission. At which point that LRM 5 with a full ton of ammo actually is useful.
As it stands too often will I be left with half to three quarters of a ton of ammo and a high heat curve.
I prefer the 1N given a choice. |

The LRM-5 is a joke. This 'mech is a dedicated in-fighter, and as such should carry SRMs. Only a fool would sit at long range long enough to use more than a fraction of the ammunition the weapon carries. That aside, this 'mech is very dangerous for it's weight class, and will definitely eat a Shadow Hawk for lunch. |

I like this Griffin better than the 1N as it has the close in weapons for point defense. However it does lose some long range punch in the deal. Still, if you make a lance of 4 griffins with 2 1N and 2 1S your opponent will feel the hurt. |
