Overview:
This somewhat rare and expensive Spider is a great variant of the standard SDR-5V. Mounting
more weapons, armor, and heat dissipation, this design is perfect for almost any role.
Capabilities:
Super fast movement, 3 ERML, TSM, Jump, and a Hatchet make this a defnitive killer. Useful
in any scouting, hunter killer, city, or harrassment role the SDR-5V-3 has proven itself
time and time again.
Deployment:
Originally seen only withing the Gray Death legion who modified it for speed, the SDR-5V-3
is becoming very popular as a scout in both front line house units and merc units.

This seems like modified Venom. Additional armor and mobility are good, but fragile XL engine makes it too vulnerable. The hatchet seems a bit odd, I would rather maintain some distance, but against other lights it may see some use. The C3 technology is good asset to fast light mech.

Anything bigger than a Large Laser threatens your XL engines. This mech isn't going to be as useful as the standard Spider. It'll have to retreat too often during battle due to the engine it must protect.
Hatchet might see some use but it'd be very little even with this kind of speed. Plus, attracting Anti Hachet munitiions from the enemy will end your day early.
In a built up city its going to have the most hope of using the hatchet and surviving. I'm just not seeing it happen enough to justify having the hachet rather than other technology.

Again I am a speed freak and a TSM freak. As someone noted in another review, a TSM assisted hatchet attack here is one killer blow, as it was intended to kill or cripple another light mech outright. Even though it would likely get killed it still poses a threat to even assault class machines. Only takes one good hatchet to the head to ruin anyone's day :D

I like this upgrade. The hatchet does seem a little silly on a light mech, but the spider is a light hunter/killer so it makes sense. 12 points of damage can be very crippling to other lights. With the C3 it can jump in and be a spotter for a couple of rounds to the long range firepower then retreat back to the rest of the lance once the opponents are nice and softened up.

Ugly little bastard nice and mobile good speed and jump the three ER mediums give it a fair punch and 12 points damage from a TSM assisted hatchet is nothing to sneeze at especially if it gets laid up side the head the armour is thin though going to ferro-fibrous would help.
