This is a firesupport Mech and nothing else. Put it on a hill way behind the front and keep on shooting. If something comes close retreat backwarts and fire away while calling your lancemates for help. If no lancemate is at hand in the moment: You´ll have a problem. But if nobody manages it to close you have some firepower, lots of ammo, no heatproblems and enough armor to counter the one or another occasional long range hit . |

Absolutely hated this design, up until the point when I had to use it in a large scale game. (needed a heavy support, had little spare BV).
They key to it is, do not even attempt to close. If you have to fire your mediums, even at long range, you are way to close. Find a spot and pick away at things. It is suprising just how quickly the AC5's build up damage. Particularly on light mechs or on Mechs its lancemates are targetting. |

I have to admit, this mech looks terrible on paper and I used to avoid it like the plague. However- this mech is fantanstic for fire support in large scale battles. Super heavy armor isn't as important in Lvl 1 as it becomes later, and this mech can happily sit in a blazing forest without overheating and hit anyone on the map. It's definitely a team player, but it has a niche and fills it well. |

The 6-S Jagermech has one big problem. It's thin armor. Sure that it can survive a few hits, but unlike the 6-A, this variant has weapons that have shorter range than the LRMs and so it will get to PPC range... not that stellar idea with 16 points of armor on your CT and less elsewhere. If the enemy lacks sufficient long range firepower to deal with it than it can work, but as soon as someone brings big LRM racks or PPCs than it's time to turn back and return to your duty as an AA turret with good cross-country ability. This 'Mech wasn't made to serve in front line unit, it's a fluff based machine and should be treated as such. |

If an Urbie at half the tonnage has the same amount of armor as this Jagermech, we have a major problem in our hands.
Sorry but this Jager is just wrong. |
