Description:
Since the publication of this article, the Free Worlds League and the Lyran Alliance respectively unveiled the first battlefield-ready runs of light and heavy ferro-fibrous/ferro-aluminum armors. The League’s Kallon Industries of Asuncion and Bernardo, both involved in a secret technology trade with the Draconis Combine, shared this technology to produce new versions of the Awesome sporting the Combine’s newer PPCs and the League’s light-fibrous armor. The League’s alliance with the Word of Blake and the outbreak of the Jihad soon led to a rapid proliferation of the technology that inspired the heavy-fibrous version initially produced by Durallex for the LAAF. Unfortunately, several batches of Durallex Guardian heavy ferro were produced for mercenary commands in Lyran employ who subsequently defected to the Blakists, which has also spread the Lyran innovation to other manufacturers like Valiant Systems and Kallon over the past few years.

These alternate ferro-fibrous/ferro-aluminum armors modify the diamond fiber concentrations slightly to produce grades that either improve the weight savings over basic ferro-fibrous at a significant increase in bulk (heavy ferro-fibrous) or trim down bulk at a cost in weight (light ferro-fibrous). As of this writing, production-grade versions of these armors are appearing on only a few new variants of older battlefield unit designs, but dedicated chassis may not be far off. –EB

Game Rules:
