================================================================================================
Overview:
In May 3067 the graduating classes of the Luthien Academy Of Military Design got a
challenging task to accomplish.
They had to design a BattleMech with the latest CAD-technology and under following terms:
1. Take a classic BattleMech design used in the 3rd Succession War.
2. Construct an OmniMech chassis upon this basis.
3. Suggest weapon configurations for that chassis; at least four but not more than seven.
3. a) The primary configuration has to be based upon the original weapon layout of the
classic design.
3. b) If possible include following configuration types: city-fighter, LRM-support,
fire-support/sniper.
All OmniMechs were graded by a committee and loaded into a battlefield simulation program.
The STK-O was presented by Student Desiderius Findeisen.
Capabilities:
The main advantage student Findeisen saw in the original Stalker was its tremendous load of
weapons. To keep this ability he decided to take only construction materials that didn't
decrease internal space and so the only high-tech used in the base-chassis were the ten
fixed double heat-sinks.
The new Stalker omni stands out due to the cavernous pod-bays.
Its assault role was strengthened by a full armor load as well.
The primary configuration is very similar to the original Stalker. The lasers and SRMs are
replaced by upgraded models while the LRMs remained unchanged.
Configuration A can deliver 60 LRMs in one salvo while still carrying four ER laser for self
defense.
The B configuration still keeps the arm-mounted medium lasers and carries two gauss rifles.
It is meant to take other assaults head on.
Geared towards short-range combat the C has the firepower of four large pulse lasers and the
unrivaled load of 21 double heat-sinks.
Built as a city-fighter configuration D carries pulse lasers and two ER-PPCs tied into a TC.
Jump-jets were included for additional mobility in constricted terrain.
Configuration E has two massive Arrow IV artillery missile launchers combined with the
almost inevitable medium ER lasers.
The trials in the academy's battlefield simulation program were a great success.
Each configuration worked very well within its intended role. Some minor problems occurred
with the A and C configurations. While the first one was criticised to carry too small
ammo-bins the later one lacked jump-jets despite mounting weapons useful for city-fighting.
Variants:
Student Desiderius Findeisen also proposed C3 equipped variants of each
configuration including a C3-master carrying D variant.
