Overview:
    In 3052 OBM aquired the ability to use 'modern' equipment as their three production lines
    were updated to use the plethora of new materials emerging throughout the Inner Sphere.
    The Metal Ants Regiment were intrigued by the reengineered ER large laser now sold by
    Blankenburg and asked for a fast and stable firing platform for that weapon. OBM answered
    with their fist 'hightech' and also first quad design. As soon as the Metal Ants realized it
    to be a quad they strongly suggested to make it their 'Name-Mech'.

Capabilities:
    The Meatl Ant is quite fast, going up to 120 km/h, provides a stable firing platform for the
    ER large laser and is wrapped in 6 tons of ferro fibrous armor. As OBM lacked the means to
    set up orbital production facilities to produce this advanced armor New Samarkand Royal
    armor was imported.
    It uses the brand-new TT3 targeting & tracking system built by Atlan Electronics which
    proved to be a formidable combination.
    Two small lasers were added to boost the fire power up close.

Deployment:
    OBM found enough customers to build 216 Metal Ants. Those were distributed to several DCMS
    units and mercenaries.

Variants:
    No factory variants exist but some were modified by removing the small lasers and replacing
    them by two ER small lasers, a ER medium laser or a TAG.
