Variants:
The ICR-1X Icarus II was the initial remake of the original Icarus primitive BattleMech
using standard (introductory) technology. In this initial form, the large laser was replaced
with a longer-ranged, harder-hitting PPC, and the dual twin short-range missile racks with a
single four-pack launcher. A single extra heat sink struggles to eliminate waste heat if the
MechWarrior is not careful, and the leftover tonnage nearly maxes out the armor coverage for
the weight once enough jump jets were mounted for 90 meter leaps. Unfortunately, the dearth
of PPC manufacturing facilities during the Succession Wars resulted in a further
modification of the design, eventually creating the 2R model.
