Overview:
In the late 3140’s, in an attempt to make the most of their industrial output, Clan
Hell’s Horses’ leadership directed their scientists and technicians to revisit the many
older OmniMech designs they were still constructing, and determine what measures could be
implemented to make them more effective. When examining the vintage Gargoyle 80 ton
OmniMech, it was determined that most configurations did not utilize the vast amount of heat
dissipation afforded by the built-in heat sink system of that design, and the lack of
endo-steel internals also limited its payload. Alleviating these two constraints nearly
doubled the payload of the machine, making the resulting machine truly deadly on the
battlefield.
Capabilities:
Designed for long-range fire support, both direct and indirect, Alternate Configuration L of
the Gargoyle II has only limited weapons, but they can reach out to extreme distances and
are highly accurate. Two extended-range large lasers are mounted in each arm, and tied into
an advanced targeting computer, either enhancing the accuracy of these weapons or allowing
the pilot to target specific locations on their opponent. Mounted alongside these energy
weapons in each arm is a large rack of long-range missiles. The accuracy of these missiles
has been enhanced with the use of Artemis V fire-control systems, which not only make sure
more of each salvo of 15 missiles hits their target when a strike is achieved, but also
improve the MechWarrior’s aim. Each launcher is fed by two tons of munitions kept in bays
protected through the use of advanced CASE systems. 6 extra double heat sinks mostly keep
the heat from these weapons in check; while the last half ton is used by a light active
probe.
