Overview:
Developed in the midst of the Jihad out of a mix of necessity and convenient timing.
Originally requested as a well armed and heavily armored frontline solution for spearheads,
the DLK-2 "Deadlock" was developed in a pair of two variants from the very start. First
being the DLK-2-LCT "Deadlock Lacerator" and second being the DLK-2-PRF "Deadlock
Perforator", both of which were built around the Task Force Talon's newly 'acquired' clan
weapon; the Hyper-Assault Gauss weapons.
While either unit was granted a light or Extralight fussion engine due to the excessive
costs of such, both vehicles carrying a C3 Slave with which to compensate; the idea being
that if only one unit got into short range of a target, all units would be allowed to
effectively engage regardless of their own distance. With that ideology in mind, the
Lacerator was made into a dedicated spearhead unit given a HAF20 while the Perforated was
given a smaller engine so as to be equipped with a far heavier HAG40.
The resulting pair of tanks was deceptively simple. While their reliance on only a single
weapon seemed initially unimpressive, the devastating nature of the new HAG technology more
than proved its worth in combat as unsuspecting enemies were subjected to a storm of metal,
shredding even the heaviest units with alarming speed. Worse yet for TFT's targets, both the
DLK-2-LCT and the DLK-2-PRF had achieved their goals of being affordable designs, allowing
Task Force Talon to field them in alarming numbers.
Capabilities:
The DLK-2 "Deadlock" and its two variants, the -LCT "Lacerator" and -PRF "Perforator" are
simple, easy to use and no less deadly because of it. Equipped with C3 modules and ECM for
counter-jamming, the Lacerator's heavy armor allows it to close the distance and soak up as
much damage as it deals out while the Pefrorator is best used as a sniper, maximizing its
chances to hit through the C3 network and tearing through even the heaviest of armor from
impressive range.
Deployment:
The DLK-2 "Deadlock" is designed so that each variant can operate as much by itself as it
can with each other. While being part of a C3 network is optimal, it is not outright
necessary for either variant to effectively engage targets. The Lacerator can operate as a
frontline juggernaut in any scenario and in much the same way, the Perforator can be as much
of a long range threat regardless of the allied units it operates with.
The downside of this consistency is that it works both ways; connecting the units to a C3
Network will certainly help but it won't be a game-changer. Due to the HAG's modifiers to
cluster hits staying unaffected from C3, both tanks' slow speeds and the lack of secondary
supporting weapons, both the DLK-2-LCT "Deadlock Lacerator" and the DLK-2-PRF "Deadlock
Perforator" lack a great amount of versatility and can thus only be used in the few ways
that their main weapon allows them.
Variants:
The DLK-2 "Deadlock" has two variants, the DLK-2-LCT "Deadlock Lacerator" and the DLK-2-PRF
"Deadlock Perforator", both of which have been described above.
