First, heres an Assault Fighter. Currently Fluffless, but I like the base. Im considering making it not a standard design but a custom fighter for some pilot...

The Impaler resembles Chaeronea from TRO 3068 (faster, better armored, but more expensive Chaeronea).
For Slammer and Feurstrum (Feursturm) I must just say, that they are mean and damn expensive too.

I believe the differentiation between "Standard", "Modified", and "Custom" is designed to denote where a particular design is a Canon design, an altered Canon design, or a completely new (user-made) design.

I have my doubts about the ER pulse lasers. They sound good, but the added heat and the loss of half the modifier don't make them terribly attractive.
And how does a Clanner go about getting a unique machine?

To a point that can be true, but for a lot of us, the mech can be a standard design if it's new and not a variant of an exsiting mech. At least that is how folks around me and in my group see it.
Custom would be like the Yang-Lao mech of Justin Allards. Modifed canon mech that is built to the users taste or needs.
