Overview:
Designed as a nuclear delivery platform by unknown producers outside of known space
(believed by some to be Blakist remnants trying to fuel a new wave of apocalyptic war in the
Inner Sphere, or by Clanners to be Wolverine in origin), the Sundial is able to carry up to
four Davy Crockett warheads (or ten Arrow IV missiles for when more conventional means are
called upon) that it can fire at multiple targets at once. It also carries ample means of
defending itself, including swarms of X-LRMs and twin heavy pulse lasers. However, it is
rather fragile for a 'Mech of its size, and requires a full escort to truly stop any
attempts to take it out before it can deliver any deadly payloads.
While having a bad reputation for being a WMD launcher and being made by unknown hands,
several Inner Sphere armed forces have taken them to add to their deterrent stockpile. Most
notably the Federated Suns, who wish to prevent the humiliation of the Dragon's Tongue from
ever happening again.
Interestingly the colossal 'Mech has various manufacturers and models recorded on its
components - some Spheroid, some Clan, some unknown entirely. This only further obfuscates
its origins.
Capabilities:
The most feared weapons of the Sundial are its twin 5-tube "Teller" short range ballistic
missile launchers, which are a specific model of Arrow IV system specifically made for its
missiles to be able to enter the mesosphere at hypersonic speeds before performing a
top-down attack on its target. This is to minimize chances of interception, especially when
nuclear warheads are involved. For directly defending itself or for the rare event it has to
be pressed into a head-on offensive, it has twin Dreadblossom launchers capable of firing
forty extended-range LRMs downrange. Closer in it also has two Kolibri Alpha Series Large
Pulse Lasers for direct offense and for emergencies. All these are linked into a C3 Slave so
other units better suited for recon can spot for it.
Durability isn't its strong suite - while 13.5 tons of armor isn't abysmal, it is quite
underprotected for its size and turtle-speed. Instead it relies on being well behind
friendly lines and having escorts screening it to survive.

Deployment:
While typically only deployed with conventional weapons while nuclear-equipped ones are
stationed as deterrent on major worlds, the Draconis Combine notably mobilized several Davy
Crockett-equipped Sundials to destroy their own factories as the Federated Suns mobilized to
reclaim the Dragon's Tongue. Casualties were supposedly minimized as Combine manufacturing
personnel were already evacuated ahead of the scuttlings, but fallout and one case where a
nuclear strike were authorized despite there being a city very close to a to-be-demolished
factory complex meant many still lost their lives.
