Overview:
The Close Assault LAM returns in the form of the Sharur. A LAM with the simple purpose in
life of playing Polo with the heads of it's enemies, it has long been considered a lost
concept due to changes in reality breaking the physics required to make it work. But for
once we have forewarning of an upcoming reality ripple, and the expected change to the rules
of how things work to go along with it. The Close Assault LAM has a chance of being viable,
though it requires a prodigy amongst pilots to do it safely.
Capabilities:
One of the things that broke the older concepts of this design was the loss of Harden armor
as a viable construction material for LAMs. The Sharur accepts this change and at least
tries to make up for it by incorporating reinforced structure. The physics of Maces and
"Playing polo" have also been changed from how things apparently used to be. TSM shores up
the lost potential damage. And while maces are horribly unstable now, the next version of
reality is predicted to be a more hospitable environment for melee weapons. Otherwise,
fairly typical lines for a TSM mech were followed. The energy weapon armament can maintain
exact temperature control regardless of the circumstances. The LAM design incorporates an
improved jump jet plan to free up mass while retaining air speed. Prototype Jump Jets were
included despite their tendency to run hot for the weight savings.
