It’s a design choice, and it’s your design, but I have to ask, and not just you because I’ve seen others make the same design choice on their designs:

Why add a massively heavy and space consuming partial wing on a design that does not have all the jump jets it can mount already?

The partial wing invariably consumes more mass than the missing jump jets. Even considering the extra heat dissipation, you can usually mount an additional double heat sink or two using the extra mass and critical slots considering the differences between what is consumed by the partial wing vs what would be consumed by the missing jump jets and heat sinks.

Maybe some fluff explaining your reasoning, or the “in-universe” reasoning would help make the design decision more palatable in my head.

I use partial wing to replace jump movement with less jumps jets and the added heat sinking in this a custom design or a very specialized mech,

I wanted to use single heat sinks, I do not remember why,but I did try both and I liked this one the best.

A lot of times I have a incomplete idea and this is how I flesh it out.

One question that I have for you the extra movement with the partial wing does it have the associated heat buildup I just do not remember?

I also like so many of the new mech art on most of the older designs that I did not so much like in the past from 1991 and on that I want to improve.

It’s been a while, but IIRC, standard BattleMech jump jets generate 1 point of heat for each hex of movement, with a three heat minimum.

Improved jump jets generate 1 point of heat per 2 hexes moved with a 3 heat point generated minimum.

Partial wings add jump distance, with how much added depending on ‘Mech mass and atmospheric conditions: thicker/standard atmospheres add more movement vs thin atmospheres/vacuum which can limit the amount of additional jump movement added or not add any additional movement at all; light and medium ‘Mechs can gain up to an additional 2 jump MP, while heavy and assault ‘Mechs only gain up to 1 additional MP max. This additional MP does not cost additional heat to use.

But that’s if I’m remembering correctly.
