Overview:
Known as the Tracker's redemption, the TRK-3R is considered the standard model of the
Tracker from 3048 onwards, though it would be first introduced in 3042. It features quality
improvements across the board as well as some new additions, making it a striker that can be
used as something other than an expendable deathtrap.
Quikscell would try to get production rights to this new variant in the name of "making it
just as budget as the other Trackers", but were denied as the TRK-3R would not be allowed to
suffer damage to the reputation it worked hard to salvage.
Capabilities:
The Tracker 3R is built on a Ceres TK Endo-Steel chassis purpose-made for the 3R, allowing
it to support a Pitban 100 XL engine alongside 3.5 tons of Ceres Light armor (a 33% increase
of plating from previous models). It retains the 5 Chilton 360 Jump Jets of older Trackers,
tweaked to allow the 'Mech a new level of deft mobility. As for electronics, the Ceres
Bullseye TTS is still in use, but a Garret 10c now handles comms.
As for its armament, a Kepler .60-Gatling is used for scything infantry with a half ton of
ammo, mounted in the head and torso respectively. For heavier targets, two Diverse Optics
Type 20P Medium Pulse Lasers - one installed in each arm - provide the bulk of the 'Mech's
firepower, while a Holly Mark II Streak SRM 2 is placed on the right shoulder with a feed to
a one-ton missile bin in the left torso.
The 3R thus excels at close range and in groups, fitting as a dedicated striker perfectly;
its mobility also means it can work as an unusually tough scout, but this is rarer than it
was with the less-well-made Trackers of old. Newfound nimble movement also assists in both
roles, its MechWarrior now able to take unorthodox routes if so desired.
