Overview:
Created to be an affordable skirmishing trooper by D&K Creation Studios, in thanks part to
assisting in founding a mercenary company in "Sequere Nos", the Gaius is as much an
exploration of the use of turrets as it is a product of proper war fighting design. One
meant to fill holes in defensive lines, to slot into most lances and allow for more
flexibility as its nature as a medium 'mech allows.
Capabilities:
Built on an endo-steel chassis, armored with nine and a half tons of ferro-fibrous armor,
powered by a two hundred and seventy five standard fusion engine, mounting five jump jets
for one hundred and fifty meters of jumping distance, protected by a D&K Creation Studios
standard laser anti-missile system, and cooled by twelve double heat sinks, the base chassis
of the Gaius sounds standard. Which is a good thing as this was what the designers were
going for. They knew that for their idea to work they needed a solid, dependable baseline
for maximum effect.
The primary armament for the chassis is a right shoulder mounted, turreted plasma rifle fed
by two tons of ammunition. This is to allow for great fields of fire in the rear of the
'mech should it be caught unfortunately out of position by many faster 'mechs like the
Dasher that could carry battle armor payloads. For its longest ranged weapon, a left arm
mounted light PPC, with added capacitor, allows the 'mech to hit a standard PPC's range, and
occaisionally damage threshold, without having to mount the heavy piece of equipment. To
round out the admittedly low amount of weaponry, a standard medium pulse laser is mounted in
the head, to allow for accurate fire at close ranges, a zombie weapon should the 'mech lose
its torsos, and to allow for a lower heat output with its heat heavy weapon loadout.
