BattleMech: Wolf
Rating: 3.50
Comment: Reminds me of a 80 ton version of the Caesar. Its nice, with heavier armour, but lacks the speed of the original.

BattleMech: Locust IIC
Rating: 4.50
Comment: Personally if I had to command a clan force, I'd take Locust IICs over Dasher's. Simply because I think you can do move with the Locusts.

Course could be that I like the fact that its a light with no XL engine. Also the fact it has no ammo weapons and makes an excellent harrasser, or the fact that it doesn't have a masc check that I will fail every time.

I think its one of the toughest clan lights to beat in a duel of the lights.

BattleMech: Kabuto KBO-7A
Rating: 2.00
Comment: Not sure which crack addict designed this for the DCMS. Considering how much they love the Jenner and Panther as their lights.

I've never liked the idea of putting XLs on scouts with ammo, because the whole ammo going up in smoke from a lucky shot leaves you with a useless engine/mech.

I agree that against a commando it would win all the time, but in a light mech brawl it would be an easy target to nail.

BattleMech: Snow Fox
Rating: 4.00
Comment: Probably my second favourite clan 2nd line light mech. It sports solid armour, a nice weapons layout. Although I've never made a masc roll in my career so I'm not sure its a safe item.

Its a solid dependable light which can bogey if you need it to. It seems a little light on weapons which is rare for a clan mech but it also doesn't sport the XL engine so its a worthwhile trade off.

BattleMech: Cossack C-SK1
Rating: 2.50
Comment: XL engines don't go to militia or National Guard units.... As a militia commander, I'd groan if I saw one of these on my ToE. Course if it was in a top notch scout company, I'd still groan.

It'll last in a light mech brawl until someone targets its fancy engine. At which point its a dead duck. Sure it'll take out a mech before it goes down, but I'd rather not have my mechs get smoked by Wasps and Stingers.

BattleMech: UrbanMech IIC
Rating: 3.00
Comment: As an upgrade over a stock Urbanmech this mech is the best out there. As a mech this still is a trashcan with few long term options. Personally I think they could have done better with an LB-X 10 and some ER Mediums but that wouldn't follow in the genre of making the Urbanmech useless to all but the dedicated city fighter.

BattleMech: Arctic Fox AF1A
Rating: 3.00
Comment: I Like this mech because it has a damage potential approaching that of a Hunchback. Light mechs can be destroyed in a few volleys by this design.

However just like the Hunchback and other close range brawlers it suffers from not being able to keep opponents honest at range. Requiring you to have a couple of ranged mechs to back this mech up in a lance.

BattleMech: Charger CGR-2A2

Comment: House Liao has found a mech that can lose to the Urbanmech...

Not sure I ever would want to win that award.

BattleMech: Panther PNT-9R
Rating: 5.00
Comment: Personal favourite. My gaming group groans when I inform them that the enemy force has a Panther in it.

Any variant of the Panther is deadly to any mech, its the penultimate sniper of its class. Until the Guass rifle Hollander came around that is.

I'd use the Panther in Heavy Lances as the rear man since it has the weapons load to dish out a pounding. In a Heavy Lance it stands the best chance in my opinion if you keep it at long range and try to keep the opponents honest.

Course, Usually I'm also strapped for funds and can't afford a 4th heavy to fill out that lance.

BattleMech: Cicada CDA-3C
Rating: 3.50
Comment: In a campaign game, this mech truly shines. The hit and run slashing tactics work against most light lances...

The biggest issue for this mech is making sure you have a veteran pilot or 4 to put in your Cicada Lance to do harassing runs in enemy territory.

I pick off my retreating heavies and assaults with a lance of these babies than anything else.

Course if you try to use this mech in a company on company battle you'll get pasted.

For those professional military guys. Just pretend its a naval ship, you've got lots of ocean to play in. Make sure you use it all to give you the space you need to survive.

Also I strip out half a ton of machine gun ammo and give it another machine gun. Those machine guns are both vital and useless. I've taken out a stray "platoon" of IS standard Battle armour with my 4 Cicada's and their Machine guns. I would keep them just in case personally.
