Or at least for a long while.

What is your LEAST FAVORITE weapon?

For me it is the Rac's. I have never really liked the idea or how it was implimented. But that is probably because I still the the AC line of weapons as actual cannons not glorified machine guns.

Anyway just a fun little topic to kick around.

NARCs. They just weight to much to be useful. Unless your building a specialized company around them, you are better off with Artemis IV and other weapons. Even the iNARC does to little to be worth it.

IMHO, NARC launchers should be 1t each with the same number of pods per ton of ammo. A modified SRM/2 if you will. This means 2t for an operational unit which at first seems to devalue ArtIV until you remember that NARCs are weapons that need to hit. I spend most of my NARC time just trying to get a hit.

That's my opinion.

Some of the new stuff, like the Nail Gun and the retractable blades to name a few. Somethings that have come out recently don't have the BT feel to them, in fact a lot of the stuff seems to suggest that TPTB are tying to pull folks away from other games that have different items similar to nail guns etc...

Wish they would stick to keeping things on a more realistic appoarch to weapon design and less reach out into the crazy portions of sci-fi for their ideas or "borrowing" from other game systems.

i think that a lot of that type of stuff is due to Dark Ages and not trying to attract players. Just my opinion.

I have to agree with you on the Narc's I always thought they were a bit useless. I would almost like to see it made a modified AC 2 or AC 5 round. And all it is, is just the Ammo. So basically a special round that does the same thing just fired from the AC 2 or AC 5.

Least favourite weapon? Hmmm...

- I won't even discuss non-core weapons.
- Plasma weapons can be reworded and is quite useful.
- Narc is way too bulky for what it does, but that is the problem of most Battletech toys
- RACs look like something from the last Prates of the Caribean, I really hate that idea.
- Mech taser... I mean really?

But being far, far ahead there are the OS launchers. I have a few launch tubes, which DON'T need any reload system and carry only one round. And yet they somehow manage to weight 0.5 t more than an actual launcher... Bleah!

Yeah, I don't think there's anything more useless than a one-shot rocket launcher! Stupidest piece of craps they ever came up with!

Please don't confuse OS launchers with the RLs. The RLs aren't that bad for their tonnage, although the decrease in range is still unexplained and uncalled for.

I can live with the Streak OS SRMs, they are not to bad, but the other OS weapons are worthless for mechs, okay for some vehicles, like say VTOLs or Aerofighter, but beyond that they are not worth the cost or tonnage.

The RLs are just as bad, you can't jettison them once you fire them, they are unguided, and really are not suited for mechs, putting them on vehicles would be better, but even then you run the risk of lots of bang for a limited time.

ALL of the OS type weapons, both the OS SRMs (all kinds) and the RLs would be better if once fired you could jettison them.

Well, I'm not saying that the RLs are ideal, but they are sill one class above most OS launchers.

RL are only useful on a VTOL imo. something quick enough to get in launch them all and then get out asap. On mechs they are wasted tonnage.

They work with any smaller vehicles and some small 'Mechs. RL 10s are decent tools for filling remaining tonnage, but the more you hae the better they get.

I would find away to fit Small lasers or something else before I would every put a RLs on a mech.

Heh, sure you put on the SLs under most circumstances, but let's say that the 'Mech already has all the energy goodness you think it will need and you want to add someting nasty that you can use to open the fight with.

What about this

FLE 17 Flea - How often exactly do you think that this thing will use it's SLs and MASC? Wouldn't 4 RL10s be more interesting here (please consider how long is this piece of scrap going to last in most fights)?
