Instead of a Wraith varient you could call it the Ghost, or the Revanant. And by the way.....I hate *^%##@@ Wraiths!

Ha Ha! I've done it.
All I'm going to say is lighter than the Wraith with the same capabilities and then some and 1 point under maximum armor capacity.
I'm a frickin' genius.

This was what you said in your first post, first paragraph: "I wondered aloud why TPTB hadn't come up with a varient that..."
So you DID say you were creating a variant. Not that I really care, I just feel like pointing this out.

Fine, fine two can play.
FASA did in fact creat varients of mechs with different weights from the standard, at least in the fluff text. Case in point: Stalker.
And then of course there is the CN10-B varient of the Centurion which is 5 tons heavier than the standard.
So put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Dunno, it just says that the weight is lowered by 10-15 tons for stress purposes. I'm just saying that it is possible to stretch the point of varients into a slightly different weight class.

Everyone that plays knows not to take much stock in the fluff text! And it said they lowered it for tests. Never said they created one like that which was produced.
In my opinion if you change the weight of a 'mech, it is no longer a variant of that 'mech, but an entirely new battlemech. Again, just my opinion. But you can call your 40 tonner whatever you choose. It is yours after all. I'd still like to see you add a Targeting Computer to the Wraith and keep the weight.
And by the way, won't that make the BV system unbalanced? (Sorry Karagin, couldn't resist)

Every Stalker I've seen stats for is 85 tons...the fluff text means nothing in the game of Battletech.

Fine. Fluff text aside.
Centurion is 50 tons. CN10-B from RS3060 is 55 tons. Varient of different weight.
JagerMech is 65 tons. JM7-D and JM7-F from RS:3060 are both varients of a different weight.

Note I just said fluff. Is it really that hard to just say "Yes, he just played fast and loose with the rules, but no he hasn't totally left the game universe"?
