Well, I read through the rules, and the Special Equipment Cards that were posted on the web site. Considering all the negative angst that has been posted about this game, I will have to say it was all for naught.
While the skeleton of the MageKnight system is certainly there, this is a completely different game. Movement is significantly more complex (there are five types: foot, hover, wheeled, tracked, and Mech), and execution has more depth...indirect fire, division of multifire shots, etc.
I love CBT, but quite honestly, it was rather unwieldly, and overly time consuming in its execution. MWDA has the benefit of two different game systems, and exstensive playtesting. It is obvious to me that WK learned a lot with MK, and its problems, and was able to sidestep a lot of the usual rules issues, as those had already been worked out in MK.
In addition, they kept A LOT of what made CBT fun to play. Charging, DFA, HTH combat, Heat effects, etc. Its all there. There is also some fun stuff that they ADDED which I won't bother to go into detail as from the posts I've been reading most of you are generally hostile to this new game.
Anyway, I got a friend who got an advanced copy, and we will be playing Sunday.
I played CBT for many years, and I have absolutely no angst in regards to the new game. I'm just gonna have fun blow'in S**T UP!

Yes, people here are generally vocal about how they feel towards MW:DA. Personally I'll wait until I play it to make any decisions on if I like it or not. And I haven't even read the rules. No point since I won't remember them by the time I do play it.

I have yet to read the rules or play but I did get a look at some displays of the new units the other day. I was less than impressed but I am not throughing the game out over that, yet...
