Their GM is gone now. Personally I don't think he was that good. Sat on his ass too much instead of making moves to try and push them over the line and be that much better. We'll see what happens next year. I'm hoping with the departure of Clemens and Wells from the Yankees, Pettite won't want to stay around and will go somewhere else (Boston, make him an offer). As far as I can tell, the Yankees don't have a lot in the farm system to trade for good picthing. Which means they better pay a lot for those free agents.

Well for us it seems pretty bleak. Cameron is mostlikly gone (hell want to much anyway, and 9 mill for 150+ strike outs? No thanks ) were saddled witha third baseman that cant hit the ball ( 2 homeruns in some 400 plate appearances IIRC) Edgar is getting old so is Dan Wilson. And I think John Olerud is going to Retire ( I heard that rumor a couple times). On top of that Edgar isa free agent. Freddy needs a work ethic and Melvin is really appearing to be inneffective.
All in all we are going to have a very different team next year, at least that is the fear.

At some point you need to start from scratch and rebuild. I expect the Red Sox to make one more strong push for a World Series next year. After that they have a slew of their star players who have their contracts ending. So who know. I wouldn't mind a few years where I knew the team was re-building, so the hopes were low and anything over a .500 season would be considered good. But more than likely, they'll try to fill the wholes during their rebuilding years with over-aged, over-priced players who aren't worth what they get paid, and manage to keep us on the edge of our seats until late-septermber, early-october.

Eversince Jay left, they have looked old. Edgar will stay. One more year before his knees give out. Dan still has a couple of years in him. If we can get Freddy to be more consistent and Pinero to be a little more ballsy they'd be fine. John will retire. He's looks tired of the game. Cameron needs to play up to the money he thinks should get....
And Ichiro will have another fine year....
With a little toughness, these guys would own the West....
P.s. Maybe we could get Kai to come in and give these guys 'The Talk'

I look at all the belly aching about the Red Sox and all I got to say is this...At least they know how to play base ball ,we got the Tigers they some how managed to get it together the very last week of the season to avoid setting a record for most losses in a season by one loss. The Lions suck big time.Like is it any wonder why Detroit is Hocky Town?If the Lions and the Demolition were to have scrimage the Demolition would win!

If the Lions and the last place Pop Warner Team had a scrimage, the Lions would still lose....

Atleast you have pro sports in your state, if I want to see my favorite teams I have to hope they play either the Cheifs or the Rams (in football) or the Cardinals (in baseball) then I have to find the time and money to go. So in other words I have never seen my favorite pro teams in person.

You say we're lucky because the Sox know how to play baseball. I have just two questions for you. When was the last time the Red Sox won the World Series? When was the last time the Tigers won the world series? You see my point. Competetive doesn't cut it. There are very few people in New England who knows what winning a World Series feels like. You probably still have their '84 victory fresh in your mind.
