The Commando is around for at least 600 years now and so it is not astonishing that it appeared in nearby periphery nations or pirat units.
This is the standard -2D that dropped all SRM's to get another medium laser (thats quite good) and a massive array of RL's (that gives it the ability to deliver up to 3 really strong barrages at a considerable range).
Dash in, deliver up to three RL-15's, retreat (that keeps your heat under control to prevent you from speed reduction).
In a normal periphery skirmish it will work well, against well equipped IS opponents it will die a painfull death.
I personally would drop the 6 RL-15 for 12 (!) RL-10. And if you can lay your hands on some DHS's : squezze them in.
In a periphery environment it will have its use. |

What are you thinking ? And since when did the Lyran Commandos end up in the Periphery ?
6 tons of RLs, that is a waste. Pilots receiving this garbage will probably defect and become mercenaries. At least when they merc, they can use the cash to improve on this garbage. |

Initial reaction of Commando pilots when they realize they're being given one of these: "What!!!"
Second reaction: They desert and become mercenaries, using their life savings to re-mod the 'mech back to something useful. |

Where did Steiner get RLs, or where did Periphery bandits get Commandos? Didn't we already do this with the RL Stinger? This is a bad design, and the 3025 version will crush this. Makes a 3025 Hussar look really good. RLs are not weapons, and should never be put on 'Mechs. It's also poorly armored for its weight. And not only will you not have any weapons left after you fire those rockets, but you won't have any 'Mech left either, because an alpha strike standind still generates 20 overheat. Odds are that you'll shut down, so after you annoy that 3025 Commando, it'll blast for the two turns that you're cooling down. |
