Very fast and mobile but all other features are rather weak. The armor is not much of a problem here because speed is its intended defense but the weapon loadout will make it at least a long mission to kill its prey. While running and jumping around pulselasers would have been a better choice to score more than a hit here and there. |

The problem with this 'Mech is that it was never meant to fight in battle. I wouldn't try to use the Exterminator unless the scenario somehow explained it's presence on field. With working null signature system it may be able to find and kill enemy commander while he's vulnerable. It may be used as a scout, scout hunter and raider as well (that job can be left to Phoenix Hawks). Otherwise it's hard to imagine this in any role other than elusive target for PCs to catch.
The problem is in weapons. MLs are pretty effective, but four are usually not enough to deal with anything above 50 tons (many machines under that weight are more dangerous as well). LRMs are just enough to give the 'Mech some ranged firepower and just like with the lasers, the missiles aren't powerful enough. Weapons need to be more focus ed on one range.
The Exterminator is an excellent tool to give flavour to a campaign trying anything else is a waste in most situations. |

I've never liked the Exterminator. Its a total FAILURE at it's intended role. As such, and with its thin armor and poor weapon load... well I'll never use one by choice. |

I love this design for one reason. Take out the small laser, and AMS. Now plug in 2 more medium lasers and throw it into a city fight and watch what happens.
On the other hand without mods, it gets a lot of roles in my smaller medium mech lances because its fast enough to keep up and jump capable.
Basically its a really expensive 45 tonner. |

This 'mech should be called the Bulldog. In a fight, target the biggest, baddest, slowest 'mech the enemy has, and send in the Exterminator. Like a Bulldog, the Exterminator should get a strong grip, and not let go until either it or it's prey falls. The weapons are rather light, but are adequate when combined with the jump jets in order to score back shots. |
