I just don't like this Chassis. I never have and I never will. Too little pod space, too much speed, and dies too easily. No thanks. This config is probably the most rounded, but it still isn't a winner in my book. |

While lacking in heavy hitting from a PPC or other head hunting weapon it has ample firepower to consistently land at range with those LPL's this is a mech that softens up an enemy at range by consistently hitting an opponent before he can reliably return fire. Not bad even if it is a fire magnet. Enough heat sinks to work at any range, some speed to work with, even Jump Jets to deal with bad situations. That said though it is a high heat mech up close and has way more ammunition than it can ever use with that machine gun. Not a good combo. |

Probably a common variant to throw against the IS. This one has almost no ammo worries, but the lack of hard hitters worry me. Granted those pulses are dangerous but it lacks that solid one hit punch of the Gauss rifle.
Again exceptional speed and agility makes this dangerous against heavy and medium designs. Those pulses and ERs will shred anything below 65 tons a new one. |

I think this one was built for urban fights, and thus the MGs are needed.
Though the ER lasers are the only nod towards a ranged fight, there in place as a 'just in case' set up than anything else, though it seems like alot of space and weight to dedicate to a system that may or may not be used for a ranged fight.
In a close in brawl, those pulse lasers are going to carve up the target fairly fast, which is nice. I like to see mechs die fast.
The MGs are going to be useful against infantry, armored or not, so hang on to em.
Again, Im not sure that using MASC is such a good idea on this one, that whole freezing up issue. The jump jets are perfect for city fights, so hang on to em.
If Im looking at a fight in a city, Id go with this in just about any star, save a fast recon element. |

This is the first Clan 'mech I ever used - and possibly my least favourite Gladiator. I have gotten used to the Gladiator using its limited pod space to 2-3 major knock-out weapons, so this spread detracts from its head-hunter functions. It also goes against character in that it is the only variant of this design to suffer from heat problems.
Still, it does not have ammo problems, and you won't lose all your punch at once as soon as you suffer one critical hit. |
