Not bad, although it's ammo based weapons can't last more than ten rounds if you don't gut the AC. It can certainly overheat , although it's hardly a tragedy unless you rely on sqeezing everything from all lasers all the time. Leaving the ERML as backup actually leaves you relatively cool. Not firing one of the ERLLs will let you cool again pretty quick. What I would have preferred is a LB gun instead of the UAC and perhaps some more ammo, but those refits would make it more IS-like.

I don't use this much, but its a nice ride. Definitely a good alternative to the Prime. Still, I prefer the A for normal combat and the D for in fighting.

Best Mad Cat out there, because its quirky. Its got a good ranged profile and deeper ammo bins than the original.
After your out of ammo you still have respectable fire power, if anything survives that long.
Does much better in Campaign than the standard Mad Cat Prime. So its definately my vote.

This would make a nice companion to the Primary variant, but doesnt have the same ability to dish out damage.
Still, if you need a missile-barrage star, mixing a couple of these in wouldnt be a bad move.
The fact that the ER large laser, LRMs and the UAC have almost the exact same range profiles make this a perfect sniper mech, as well. With the ability to fire off almost all of its weapons with minimal to moderate heat buildup means that it can, quite literally, remove one enemy target per round in a game.
However, the dependance on ammo weapons means that this thing doesnt operate well in extended campaigns.
Still, a nice mech to have in fire support stars, or as a quick raider.

An excellent variant of the Mad Cat. The loss of the two Medium Lasers is more than made up for by the longer range of the autocannon, and downgrading to LRM-15s means the 'mech now carries enough ammo to actually last all the way through an engagement. The heat balance is superior to the Prime variant as well. Most rounds I will fire both lasers, the autocannon, and the LRM launcher. After a couple of rounds, just drop one of the lasers and cycle in the other LRM launcher until the heat drops a bit. A few rounds of this sort of treatment will but a hurtin' on any opponent. Mind the AC ammo though; you will run out in long battles unless you conserve.
