ER Large laser is only a start of your trouble when you face this thing. UAC and Streak SRMs are usually at the end of it all on the other hand. While heavily leaning to close range bracket, the configuration does exactly what's expected from an Omnimech configuration - excelling at one thing. It can even jump with AC belching shells at full speed, rockets flying and small laser smelting armour without breaking a sweat. It could use more AC shots, but otherwise it works fine. |

My favourite Thor pod. Good armor, speed and a devastating short range arsenal, this one commands respect. I seen him took out a bunch of assaults with a couple of well placed UAC shots. Ammo is light, but for Clan trials its is enough. |

I used this config as a GM playing a clan binary against an IS Merc company of players fielding 14 mechs. This baby took down their only assault class machine, a Stalker, then got owned by a Marauder and Dervish working together. Still in the city where the fight took place it rocked. On an open field it is comparatively weak, however thats the beauty of the omni, just repod to a Prime and go to battle. |

Has to be my favourite Thor ever for clan duels. I rarely lose, because the double tap ends the fight just about everytime.
You need to close, but with 150 meter jump you should be able to do it fairly easily and withou any problems.
Run in close, run around and double tap till you have scrap at your feet. Simple as pie in Clan vs Clan. Clan vs IS you need to play sniper with your ER Large and hope you don't get over whelmed. |

"Please don't stand so close to me"
In a ranged fight, this mech can barely defend itself with the ER large laser. In a knife-fight, on the other hand, this mech carries the biggest whuppin' stick in the clan arsenal.
Its not invulnerable, though. The armor is still 9.5 tons, and the UAC carries 10 shots. One of these could reasonably take down an assault mech by itself, and a star of them could be devastating...while the ammo holds out.
A nice mech for close range battles...cities, hills, forests, any kind of terrain that limits long range battles is the best place to use this design. |
