Overview:
    Stormvanger Assemblies released the Javelin in 2751. Because of the turmoil of the time,
    further development was severely limited. Next to the Javelin 10N, a 10F model was also
    released, which carried an armament exclusively made up of lasers, as well as "the armor of
    a medium 'Mech". Stormvanger decided to elaborate on that and created a true medium 'mech.
    However, because of the war raging on, only the preproduction run was ever completed. And
    because this was sold on the black market, no PR-campaign was started, for which a new name
    was to have been invented. Thus, the name which the designers had given the prototypes stuck
    on ever after: the Minimax!

Capabilities:
    True to its name, the Minimax tried to achieve a movement still worthy of a light raider,
    while carrying armour and weaponry of a medium 'mech. Because there was already a competitor
    fielding an arsenal based on missiles (the Whitworth 1S), it was decided to elaborate on the
    armament of the Fire Javelin.
    
    At first, experiments went into the direction of adding one or two medium lasers. That a
    quartet of small lasers were added instead came down to the consideration of the mission
    profile:
    
    A fast striker that should not shy away from physical combat, even with heavier 'mechs. As
    such, it was intended to use its jump jets continually. That meant it had to have a good
    heat dissipation system. It also meant, that range was not as much of a concern as in other
    cases. Both of these considerations made the small lasers the more attractive addition!
    
    The end result is a design that is as tough and fast as most mediums. Its only serious
    drawback is a complete lack of long range weaponry, which should not pose a problem if the
    design is used as intended.

Deployment:
    This design has only ever seen a pre-production run of 50 'mechs. How many of these still
    exist in these troubled days which have seen the demise of so many StarLeague treasures, is
    unknown. There have not even been any confirmed sightings of the Minimax. Superficially, it
    looks very similar to its parent design. As such, any 'mechwarrior engaging a laser-armed
    Javelin is cautinoned that he could be tangling with a desing that is a full ten tons
    heavier than he suspects!
    
    
    
    (Editor's note: this is one of two designs that I just quickly thought of to demonstrate how
    lifeless a lot of new run-of-the-mill designs could be. I spent ten minutes on the design
    and now ten minutes on the fluff. The actual result should be decent. It is not a joke
    'mech. But it is also not one of my dedicated efforts to create something unique and
    inspiring.)
