    Originally designed in 2507, the original Clint has all but  vanished from the battlefield.
    Never a popular mech it did have a small following of fans. Unfortunately after Andoran
    Industries filed for Chapter 9 it appeared that replacement parts would going to dissapear
    and in turn the mech it's self would then require replacement. A small mech firm bought the
    design plans in late 3060 and quickly set to work redesigning the mech. Eager to reclaim
    some of the money spent they brought in all of the remaining Clint drivers (now less than a
    hundered) and asked them what they liked and disliked about the mech and what they would
    like to see done differently. Surprisingly many of them wanted a weapon with more punch as
    the Ac 5 was not strong enough of offered too little ammunition. Over all the Sloane 220
    lockover targeting system was deemed necessary. But many hoped for a hardware upgrade.
    When the small company finally finished with thier evaluations they set about redesigning
    the ancient design.

    They started with a common problem. Andoran originally cut costs int the Clint design. This
    made it hard for techs to repair damaged joints because they made parts specifically for the
    Clint. They started by spending time on the problem areas and were finally able to work out
    a fix that allowed for common parts to be used instead of the Clint specific parts they
    required in the past.
    Next they looked at the targeting system and found there was indeed a software upgrade
    as well as hardware upgade avaliable. a Targeting computer now accompanies the standard
    Sloane 220 (now the Sloane 440).
    Weapon wise they spend alot of time trying to come up with the right weapons mix. They
    finally decided to keep the weapons mix nearly the same. The Light PPC became available and
    when coupled with a Capacitor it gives the mech a decent punch with out heat or ammunition
    concerns. The Medium lasers remain unchanged but one was moved from the center torso to the
    The other big changes came in the form of armor coverage and electronics. 2 additional
    tons of Stealth armor now covers the mech. Upping it from 4.5 tons to 6 tons. the new mechs
    rolling off the assembly line are using a Endo Steel internal structure and with the
    addition of both a Beagle Active Probe and a Guardian ECM suite it allows the mech to fill a
    valuable role of raider and scout hunter.

    As yet none of the mechs have been shipped and a run of 5 has been completed. So far with
    the lack of interest the company may be abandoning the project and only building them as
    orders come in.
