Shortly after the recovery of the Gray Death Memory Core new technology reached Kallon
Industries in the FWL. Impressed by the performance of the new double heat sinks Kallons
designers decided to use them on a new mech. They started with the locally produced chassis
of the Rifleman (The upgraded RFL-5M was planned for production at the same time) for their
new mech: the BTH-666 Bounty Hunter.

The structure was altered by 5 tons and a Magna 260 fusion engine was incorporated to get
the same speed. The ACs were replaced by two more Magna large lasers and 17 double-strength
    heat sinks were added.
Tests showed that the firepower of four large lasers fired simultaneously every 10 seconds
was hard to survive by most mechs.
Andreas Schmitz, chief designer of the BTH-project, further had the idea not only to build a
mech with tremendous heat dissipating capabilities but also with the ability to do heat to
others: the medium lasers of the parent-design were felt superfluous because large lasers
have no problem targeting enemies nearby. So Schmitz was able to convince his superiors to
incorporate an SRM-2 launcher. Now his mech was able to fire inferno-rounds at its enemies!
Some test-pilots nodded about the ammo which they felt was dangerous on such a laser-heavy
design despite its double heat sinks.
But to protect the new mech 10 tons of ferro-fibrous armor were added. Critics pointed out
that an endo-steel structure would have been better to incorporate more armor but at this
time new orbital facilities were just beginning to produce endo-steel skeletons and
ferro-fibrous armor was easier to get.
As time went by better designs came up but the Bounty Hunter still is a capable design.

Bounty Hunters were distributed to most regiments of the FWLM. From the year 3055 on the
design was sold to mercenaries too and later a hand full found its way to divisions of the
    Word of Blake.
