Testing some ideas for battle armor suits to see if they'd be worth the time to try and piece together under the rules.
Background:
At one point, the AFNN maintained a small cadre of battle armor troopers, all of whom used knock-offs of the standard Inner Sphere armor.
This changed when a fully-functional suit of Nighthawk armor fell into their hands. In short order, the AFNN was able to reverse-engineer it and begin full-scale production, doling new suits as fast as possible.
But rather than leave it at that, the AFNN's increasingly famous engineers began to tinker with the design. The first creation was the Helaman, a battle armor with a variable jet pack / missile launcher combination that could be modified in the field for different mission types.
At first, the Helaman appeared sufficient to help give the AFNN technological advantage to make up for their numerical disadvantage, since one Helaman could easily bog down entire platoons of enemy battle armor.
But as the Word of Blake and the various Successor Houses began introducing additional armor types, the AFNN was forced to respond. Thus was born Project PIVOT DANCER, an effort to produce two ELINT platforms.
Bogle
This design was intended to be the "ultimate" in stealth designs, using a down-scaled null signature system and an assortment of ECM gear to keep it from being detected. The trade-off, however, is that there is no room on the armor itself for weaponry; the operator must carry hand-held weapons and equipment from there.
Leprechaun
Although no one knows quite how it happened, the AFNN has somehow gotten its hands on a blue shield system, modifying it so that it can function for twice as long without issue. This battle armor fields a version of the blue shield to help protect it from PPC fire, plus an experimental laser anti-missile system to help protect it from missiles and rockets; the name for the machine comes from reports that when both activated in test trials the combined array of colors was similar to a rainbow.
As with the Bogle, however, the combined weight and bulk of the two systems is such that the battle armor cannot mount any other weapons or equipment, and so the operator is forced to deal with hand-held items.
