Well, i got to check this game out, and I am dissapointed...SEVERLY!

The game controls like an arcade racer, which has its place in the world, but as a sim-racer, this is extremly lame. There are no physics here. You turn the analog stick, and the car responss automatically, despite the fact that I am going over 100mph of mud. Unlike the WRC game for PS2 the cars do not feel like they are on different terrain. It feels more like the Star Wars pod racer game, with no actual attachment to the ground.

The graphics and sound effects are nice though. The cars look, for the most part, real. They are a bit on the squished and cartoony looking side, however. There are 6 views to choose from, each with its perks. As i was playing the game, the controls seemed to favor the two floating behind the back cameras. The other camera angles (roof, hood, bumper and cockpit) were selectable, but not really worth the use with the way the game handles. (Anyone that plays racing games will tell you that camera angles change the way the game plays). SFX were decent, Impreza sounded different from the Ford, but there was not as much of a difference from the WRC game.

Tracks were pretty much set up how I like them, point to point. i think game companies are finally getting that rally games need to stay P2P, not circut style.

Tons to unlock, including bonus cars and tracks. If you like the arcade style game, then V-Rally is good for you...I am still waiting for the WRC 2002 or Rally Fusion myself.

V-Rally 3 for PS2: 7/10

The Rally in GT3, while very short and Circut based, is decent. WRC offers more of a simulation approach, while V-Rally 3 is more arcade. GT3's in right in the middle. If you liked GT3's Rally modes, wait for Colin McRae 3 or Rally Fusion: Race of Champions. V-Rally 3 reinds me of the older Sega Rally Arcade games...

And if you want sim rally....WRC (and next year WRC 2003) are the ways to go.

If WRC 2002(3) comes out, it wont be until May or April next year...It will most likely be based on this seasons drivers, as the game is being released in Europe fairly soon, I believe. If I was Evolution Studios I would wait until the new drivers were selected, etc, then release the game after updates. There may be licensing issues...I am not sure. EA can do it with F-1, so I am pretty sure Evo. Studios could do it with WRC a both are governed by the FIA.

Again...the American release date is up in the air if at all...so dont hold your breath.
