==Overview:==
     In 3065 our blessed order found and decoded a computer core abored the
burned out hulk of Ares Class warship. The core was the central storage uni
the flight control deck, and held with in it the data of the ships fighter 
compliment. All was standard but for six strang designations that we had no
seen before. After deep research and many months of anaylisis we tracked do
to our imberrisment, a grevious error in our record. This is the results of
best attempts to reclaim this lost data.

     It seems that the SLDF Naval section had setup a special section of th
marine corps. This section was trained in flight operations, battlemech 
operation, and infantry operations. The best the navy and marines had to of

MC-21-A Invader is one such item.

==Capabilities:==
     The Invader was part of the pinicle of technology the Star Leauge achi
before its betrayle. These machines cominly refeared to as Land Air Mechs a
the perfect hybrid between battlemech and aerofighter. Able to fly in unaid
then fight on the ground. The ultimate insergent machine, it was because of
this feature that the Invader was designed.

     As it is a Marine Corp. unit, the primary pourpose of the Invader is t
establish and hold a beach head or LZ. This means extended contact with ene
contacts without reinforcements, meaning the Invader has to be as independe
as possible and as durable as possible. .

      Powered with a fusion engine, supported by an endo-steel structure wi
ten ton armored shell. The engine can push the unit in mech form up to aver
speeds, backed by jump jets/engine ports. The layout was choosen in such a 
to insure maximum survival for the unit. This is most showed by the fact th
all thou Extra-Light engines existed there were left from the design.

      Offensive weapons are powerfull enough to cause most mechs of its wei
or less to take note and not dismiss the unit for the simple fact its a LAM
First off is the right arm mounted Extended Range PPC, a feared weapon by a
standard. Thou most believe it much to hot, designers compisated for this b
using double strength heat sinks. Backing this up are a pair of medium lase
and an SRM 4, which can be used at close range to disable or even cripple e
units.

     Surving as a multiple role unit, the design is equiped with the lastes
detection and counter detection electronics the Star League had to offer. T
can be used to disturb enemy comunications, spot hidding enemy units while 
doing low flying passes, and allow it accomplish its primary mission. The l
and very unique feature of the Invader is the addition of two tons of fuel 
space in its belly. Giving the Invader an operational range two to three ti
further then anyother LAM.

      It is our belief that all existing units where destroyed or scrapped 
during the opperation to take terra, where our records show that all the un
served aboe ands beyond there call of duity, personelly opening three vital
LZ's and holding them for the time it took the Dropships to land. We believ
that none of these craft survived this opperation and that the clans do not
have the scimatics. For it is the personel opinion that if they had, there 
would be a heavier use of LAM's among there numbers.

==Battle History:==
      A battalion of these units opperated in the SLDF Navy, participating 
the Periphery Wars and the Battle to retake Terra. All served with distinct
and vallor, easily being seen as among the top ten SLDF units.

==Variants:==
     To avoid complicated logistical problems, no variants are known to hav
existed. All opperating units were similary equiped allowing easy maintence
all units.

ok now i know people that LAM's are not the most popular thing, heck i agree. But i put time into this to creat a well thought out craft, that dosen't exist anymore but did. otherwise it exists in the relm of other LAM's myth and legend.

i just wanna know if the history and idea were worth my time, not an argument of how LAM's don't belong in battletech..... so for goodness saks throw me a bone here.

Sorry Vagabond...but I don't evem know how Lams work.

With the electronics it would make a decent escort 'Mech though.

LAMs have three modes- mech, airmech, and aircraft. A LAM can transform between any of the three modes at will, unless certain damage has been taken. LAMs were based off the Macross Veritechs; they were never very popular, and were the first to go even before the lawsuit.

The concept was that a fighter is easier to sneak on-planet than a mech. Once on-planet, the pilot (almost always special forces) would then covert either to mech mode or airmech mode (a hybrid configuration; 3X the jumping range without building heat), perform the task(s), and then convert back to aircraft mode before leaving.
