Overview:
"What weights 95 tons, can run at 85kph, and jump 120 meters?"
"I don't know, but I'm getting out of here."
Such was the sentiment when the Inner Sphere first encountered the executioner. By all
rights, no assault mech should be allowed to move that fast.
The Terror Bird is faster.
Capabilities:
Coming out of Jade Falcons "Everything is a totem mech" design fad, the Terror Bird was an
oddball design. Eschewing the jump capability of all the other bird mechs, the Terror Bird
instead focuses on mass, ground speed and that most strange and terrifying of Clan doctrinal
changes, physical combat.
Weighting in at 100 tons and equipped with the largest viable XL engine, the Terror Bird is
already faster then average. A super charger can then over clock the power output for even
greater bursts of speed. But the designers didn't stop there. Triple Strength Myomer,
once properly heated provides additional mobility which compounds with the super charger.
It also compounds with the massive talons attached to the feet. At full power the Terror
Bird can simply remove a leg from anything lighter then itself. And for the 100 ton mech,
that happy state of affairs is unlikely to happen, since if you're in range to be kicked,
you're in range of the Terror Bird's other weapons suite, 20 ER Small lasers. Backed by a
targeting computer this array of lasers can either sandblast a target, probably weakening it
enough for the Talons to finish it off, or even be used for a more directly targeted attack.
Secondary weapons on the Terror Bird give a bit of a ranged option and provide diversity to
the mechs ability to maintain a stable heat profile.
