==Overview:==
Unlike the previous incarnations of the Shogun, for which the Dragoons have
notoriously kept tight security and secrecy, they have made a point of showing
off the first dozen of this new design. Perhaps their recent near-miss with
the remains of Waco's Rangers and the latter's Blakist backers has forced
their hand in some regards, and the publicity is a way for the Wolves to warn
away any future attackers. 

By going with full endo steel construction, an extra-light engine, and double
heat sinks, the Wolves have freed up enough in the way of tonnage to make the
mech a third again faster, with increased jump capability to match; anyone
believing that they will face a slow-moving missile launcher will be greatly
mistaken. Furthermore, two ER medium lasers and a medium pulse laser have been
added as back-up weapons, giving the mech greater flexibility against
infantry, conventional vehicles, and battle armor.

(The 2G version is actually a smokescreen for the Shogun IIC, which has been
created as a joint project between the Dragoons and Wolf-in-Exile. This even
more frightening version uses Clan technology to further increase the up-close
arsenal while enlarging the LRM launchers. It loses on total shots from its
LRMs, but gains total damage per volley.)

For the campaign I'm doing, a whole slew of minor - to - major changes in the BTech universe is going to lead to the Jihad not going off as planned.

A big part of this is that Waco's Rangers fails in their effort to get revenge against the Dragoons for a number of reasons; Waco is killed in the ensuing counter-offensive, and the surviving Rangers are forced to join the Dragoons.

How it's going to work from there is that the Dragoons, the Northwind Highlanders, the AFNN (Armed Forces of New Nauvoo), and a handful of other surviving units will team up to forcibly liberate Terra. The Liberation of Terra will result in several top Blakist commanders being killed or captured, a large number of elite Blakist soldiers taken down, and the loss of numerous factories. With their backs broken, the Word of Blake will be vulnerable to counter-attack from the various guerrilla forces that are organizing. The aforementioned ad-hoc alliance will, along with Comstar and the FRR, push the point further via Operation Sucker-Punch, a planet-hopping campaign in which worlds with weak Blakist garrisons are picked off. Meanwhile, the Hell's Horses and one or two other Clans will win the right to go in and assist the Falcons and Wolves repel those Blakist forces that have penetrated into their invasion corridors.

By 3075, the Blakist forces are in full retreat; not even the Free Worlds League is save haven for them, as the Solaris Protectorate and a handful of regional FWL military leaders have succeeded in forcing them off of several key planets. The entire Inner Sphere - Blakist and otherwise - are gearing up for the massive blood-letting that will be the eventual final onslaught against the remaining Blakist-held corridor of planets (Sirius, Procyon, and a swath down the center of the FWL). Meanwhile, the New Terran Hegemony will arise from the remains of the Chaos March, and with the help of Comstar will defend Earth jealously.
