In honor of the prospect of Hasbro crushing Harmony Gold, I had the idea to try and translate some of the mecha from the series into Battletech.

First, the Alpha fighter from Genesis Climber Mospaeda:

The Alpha (link) is the backbone mecha for the series. It has what is essentially an assault rifle that is backed up by a large number of missiles. For this one, however, I decided to go with an ER PPC (to get a range bracket going) and a medium laser in the head (as a back-up weapon) to back up the mix of MRMs and RL 10s (to replicate the missile barrages).

The Beta (link) is the support unit for the Alpha; the two machines can actually connect in fighter mode. Unique with the Beta is a ballistic cannon in its center of mass in fighter and Gerwalk mode; I went with the AC/2 to replicate that. I wanted to get three medium lasers in each arm to replicate the official load-out, but only had the heat capacity for a total of five. I then threw in some RL 10s to replicate the missile loads.

The Condor does it need 100 rounds of SRM ammo? I get it, 1 ton per launcher 4 launchers but it really doesn't need that much ammo. You can save 1.5 tons by dropping down to 2 tons ammo and max armor out and add in something else like BAP or ECM to the mech.

The basic idea is that we've got a light, generally low-tech vehicle (other than the fusion engine) that can take a direct hit across the bow from an AC/20, return fire with its own weapons, and still get its cargo to its destination. At two tons, we've either got two standard battle armor suits, one Kanazuchi battle armor suit, 2+ squads of infantry, or quite a bit of cargo.
