Cruise missiles and anti-ship missiles can't be carried by anything else mostly because of their size. Even the smallest cruise missile launcher weighs 50 tons plus 25 tons for missile, piranha subcapital missile weighs 100 tons plus 10 for every missile. Smallest subcapital laser weighs 150 tons alone and that IMO puts it out of question for standard superheavy tanks (heat sinks). These weapons really demand heavier chassis than usual, although cruise missile can be carried by standard combat chassis or easily converted to a train vehicle via trailer hitches. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

I made a 200 ton super heavy that carried a Barracuda (before sub-capital) and pulled a 200 ton ammo trailer. A design like that makes sense as a strategic weapon. The weapon system demands the size. And the alternative are a bunch of static but hardened launch silos. Even if its crawling at 1mp a turn that is still 10 km farther away per hour than when a scout spotted it. _________________ one must work hard to cultivate the mind and body. and one must always cultivate the mind.

Exactly! Superheavy vehicle with these things makes far more sense than a masive, but nigh immobile slab of armour covering conventional weapons and artilery that can sit in a far more efficient chassis. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

As part of the SDS setup sure it makes since, but they are still subject to the same death that ATNs 200 ton crawling ORGE like tanks will die.

Those are new weapons from the tactical ops mostly meant for support vehicles like cruisers (I mean the seafaring ones) launcher weighs 55 tons and single missile weighs 25 tons. That is the lightest cruise missile doing 50 artillery damage and has 50 boards range.
70 damage missile is 80 tons with 35 ton missiles, 90 is 100 tons with 45 ton missiles and 120 missiles are 135 tons with 60 ton missiles. _________________ The dragon NEVER sleeps!

I could see those being part of the SDS platforms, thus giving a purpose to the the 105 ton plus tanks, but even then they would be limited in overall use and ability. _________________ Karagin Only the dead have seen the end of war. - Plato
