Greetings Staff,

One of the key reasons for the Clans success in the Invasion was not because of their technology, although that did assest them. Superior technology in the hand of fools is useless however, one of the tennets of this unit. The key reason for their supieor skills in the Invasion was due to their combat flexability and control of highly mobile and changing battles.

I would like to propose a number of changes to our Lance level organization to bring us to the same level of tactical and strategic flexability. As we stick with mostly technology available from the 3025 period of time, our resupply will not be a problem, and I am not proposing we abandon our current conditions. I believe we can expand our fighting capabilities as a unit without hurting our ability to supply and maintain that unit. Here is how.

I propose the organization of new lance forces within each company, while maintaing a company organization and command structure. There will be five types of lance organizations used by the Royal Roses in commiting to battle. I hope that these organizations will give us the tactical and strategic flexability to further our battlefiled goals without diminishing our responce time or effect our ability to remain in the field. Allow me to outline the Lance Reorganizations.

Air Lance - 4 BattleMechs, 2 Fighters
This is the classic Air Lance which has been used by countless units over the years. However, it is my feeling that such units are under used and appreciated. I propose standardizing their use within the Royal Roses. The Air Lance is the basis for my other changes, though these are more radical, I hope they are acceptable.

Due to our limited funds and resources I do not propose using Aerospace fighters with our Air Lances. Rather I would recommend using conventional fighters such as the Cappallen Confederation Guardian Fighter or Draconis Combine MechBuster fighter. This would give our forces far more training in air and ground operations and using air support, as well as making them more mobile and able to strike more targets.

Force Lance - 4 BattleMechs, 2 Tanks
The Force Lance is a ground force unit that is designed to allow BattleMechs and Armor to work together towards common goals. Using conventional and BattleMech forces together can inflict great damage on unexpecting warriors and opponents, and allows the tanks to take on duties better suited to them, such as fire support or flank support, rather then sending much needed BattleMechs into those positions. This also gives our MechWarriors more experience with working with Armor and makes them, overall, better fighters.

Melee Lance - 4 BattleMechs, 2 Tanks, 2 Fighters
This is a combination of the Air and Force Lance. It is meant to be used for fast hard hitting battles, waged over a large area of ground with multiple objectives in a target rich enviornment. With armor for fire support, conventional fighters for air support, and BattleMechs to drive the battle, a melee lance is a highly practicle and deadly unit that can be used to control a battle for a CO.

Siege Lance - 4 BattleMechs, 2 Tanks, 2 Fighters, 2 Platoons of Infantry
A Siege Lance is a Melee Lance with the added addition of 2 Platoons of Infantry that can be used for storming defensive positions to take out gun emblacements by killing their crews, rather then blasting through tons of armor and concrete to knock out the heavily defended guns. With fighters for bombing, tanks for shelling and fire support, and Mechs to escort the infantry to the building, the Siege Lance can siege most military installations and take them out, or even take them under their control quickly and with minimum loss of life.

Skirmish Lance - 4 BattleMechs, 2 Platoons of Infantry
A Skirmish Lance is used to advance quickly over enemy territory, either for scouting or mop up opperations. Infantry is carried in APCs until needed for support or scouting purposes. This arrangement allows a lance to quickly take and control enemy occupied territory gaining great amounts of ground quickly before enemy units can retalitate. A classic blitzgrieg style unit.

These new organizations are suggestions, and I hope that the unit commanders will work with them. Currently the White Rose company has been redrawn to use these new Lance configurations. I have provided the new TOnE of the White Rose Company and Command Lance so that you may see how it is that the deployment works.

As usual the Angels of Innocence maintain their scout and Skirmish role. The addition of 2 MechBuster fighters allows the White Roses to severly damage units found, or blow up stock piles searched out behind enemy lines. The addition of the scimitar tanks gives them fast and heavy firepower that has a far better damage/speed profile then any of the mech units opperated by the White Rose Company. The infantry provide usual infantry support, including the seizing and destroying of materials, scouting prepared enemy positions and controling bases of operations.

The Command Lance is now a Siege Lance, the most powerful Lance combination. With two powerful, and extremely rare Patton tanks, and another two MechBuster fighters, the Siege Lance can either lay seige to enemy positions or defend from the same for some time. The Command Lance makes a strong Landing Zone defense, or a powerful line centering force, able to hold and stablize a battlefield, bring it swiftly back under Royal Rose control.

So far these new Lance configurations have not been deployed on the front lines, but there is hope. I hope everyone takes to this idea, and we can begin gaining praticle experience in combined arms small unit tactics.
