Hmm... nice one indeed. This 'Mech is fairly mobile, if not fast for it's size, well protected and packing quite a punch at range. Overall a solid support unit that deserves it's rating. It bears a lot of similarity to jumping Trebuchet though, having the advantage of being a bit lighter.

Unlike the Treb, I made certain that the Shrike has the ammo to last through an entire battle: 24 shots for that one launcher OUGHT to be enough. Of course, for the first eight rounds, the Treb is putting twice my salvoes into the air--and overheating each and every turn it does so. I can't match that volume of fire with the Shrike, but I got better armor and mobility, and can fire my LRM while jumping for zero heat. Anyway, the design was actually meant to fight Davion Valkyries and Centurions; of course, Liao being where it is, I'm sure it will fight Marik Trebs as well.

Thanks for the review SD!

Actually the jumping Trebuchet has only one LRM launcher, but it really suffers in the ammo department as well. The reason is the same as with many design modifications. For some reason it packs fifteen heat sinks that it hardly need with the second launcher gone. Even if it jumps and fires all it's lasers it builds up little heat, but jumping and firing LRMs is probably the last thing you want to do when you have only eight shots (as a friend of mine has recently learned when playing C1 Catapult against Hetzers). Some things in TRO are so weird it makes me wonder whether there was any brain used while they were made.

I think a lot of things get "rushed" for a release date and end up total crap because of it. A few Clan Mechs fall into that category.

And PS. Edit your post and remove the space after the url= in order to make the link work right Wink
Also the space after the end of the url and before the closing ]

Heh, serves me right for not viewing my post after submitting it. Copy/Paste is not that easy on touch screen Very Happy

EDIT: Well, nothing about 'Mechs being rather mediocre, but that is hardly an excuse for idiocy that any real designer would see from miles away. It breaks any feeling of real work behind the designs, which is quite detrimental to overall product quality.
