(Seraph adjusts his dress uniform as he stands in front of the assembled group. He then begins to recite, in cantonese, an ancient address to his Chancelor. A wizened old man shambles up to Seraph and barks harshly in the same tongue. Seraph stands firmly against the lash of the ancient's tongue. The elder reaches up and removes Seraph's rank insignia, throwing it to the ground and grinding it into the floor. Seraph shows no emotion to such an affront. The old mana then continues to berate Seraph, the tirade growing in intensity as the warrior shows no reaction to the taunts and degridations heaped upon him by this frail old man. Finally Seraph is struck full in the head. Once from the left thence from the right. Again, no alteration in his stance is betrayed by Seraph. The ancient looks into Seraph's eyes intently. A long time he stands there staring, finally he nods slightly. From within his jacket he pulls a compact box made of teak. Opening it, the old man pulls from within it a small device. Pinning it to Seraph's collar, the old man bows his head slightly. Seraph returns the acknowledgement with a bow from the waist, fully extending himself to a position parallel to the ground. The old man turns and makes an announcement to all assembled. He then shambles out as quietly as he came. The silence is but momentary as the crowd breaks out in a hubbub wondering what has just occured.)

Congratulations my friend. Though, with your new promotion I doubt you will any longer desire to leave state service as my XO in a mercenary unit.

I just noticed I ALSO recently was promoted, to Leftenant General. Now I'M having second thoughts about leaving the service LOL!!

I meant to congratulate you on your promotion, Seraph, but somehow it slipped by. So congratulations, and my apologies for my tardiness.
And it was certainly nice of Motown to participate in your promotion ceremony. I didn't know he spoke Cantonese...
