In case no one has heard it yet, four Canadian soldiers were killed and eight others wounded in Afghanistan last night. It took place during a live fire exercise in a training area outside Kandahar.

An American F-16 pilot on a routine patrol saw the muzzle flashes and assumed that he was under attack. He dropped a 500lb bomb on the training area, without permission I might add.

I lost three friends with that bomb.

And, to that I have to ask: Can your pilots read a map? Can they follow directions? Can they ID friend from foe?

Almost every Blue on Blue casualty in every conflict in the last decade has been because of American pilots.

Alexander (I apologize for anyone who finds my remarks hurtful, but, tough!)

Yeah, I know. That's what happens when you let officers go off to war without any NCOs around to show them what to do!

Really crappy thing about it is, they weren't killed taking out Osama, or capturing a group of terrorists, they were zapped while in a friendly area by friendlies.

Crappy friggin war, eh?

I add my sediments to ICER's....

I agree with your assessment. There were obviously no NCO's around when the accident occured, if there had been, they would have kicked some Officer *SS and made them read....It's amazing what a motivated NCO can do....
