Yes, that's a varient. An LB-10X where the Guass was, two tons of ammo, and a medium laser on each arm.

Either way, the Hollander just isn't so hot a unit. Within the space of ten years, the unit went from brand new to an obsolete nightmare. As far as mechs go, that's a horrid aging rate. The only unit that is in a worse predicament is the Bandersnatch, and only because the rise of the Chaos March severed almost all of the supply chain.

The entire purpose of this one is an attempt to give it one final chance to prove itself usefull. Artillery is still pretty valid in BTech; however, most units that mount it are on the heavy side; the lightest unit that carries artillery is the 40-ton Chapparal tank, and if any more even exist in the IS, Comstar/WoB have them. This version not only gives a new, far lighter artillery platform, but it puts it on a mech so light and fast that it would take a visual scan to reveal its true nature. This unit can get in, fire off however many rounds are needed, and then duck back to cover. It can outrun most would-be pursuers, reducing the need for an escort. Other artillery units are slow-moving jobs that can't evacuate as fast as most units that would be in a pursuit role, forcing them to rely on escort units. This time, all that is needed is the Hollander, some sort of spotter unit, and maybe some aerospace fighters or something as a light interdiction unit.

I would not want to be riding this variant with clan Fire Moths around. Other than that it should fill a nice role pretty well.

I'd dispute that...name another 'Mech that you can get that mounts a Gauss and moves 5/8 and that only costs you 2.6 million...I can buy a lance of these for the cost of just one Griffin-3M...

Also, the LB-10X version is very nice as well...almost has the armor of the Centurion-9D, mounts nearly the same weapons payload (minus the LRMs) and is almost as fast...but at only 2.9 million, I can almost squeeze out a lance of these for the cost of one 9.7 million C-Bill Centurion-9D...the only problem with the G1 Hollander is that it doesn't have CASE on its LB ammo...

So, yes...I'd dispute anyone that says the Hollander isn't a good design...It is a great design for what it's intended for...to provide heavy firepower that can move itself at a fairly decent clip and still be extremely cheap...

That 'Mech is a merc commander's wet dream machine...

And let's not forget the new variant of the hollander with the Heavy Guass Rifle

Granted it'd be a pain to use running full speed but sure would be fun. Nothing like seeing this lil mech with this giant gun. And then have it fire point blank at someone blowing away enemy and seeing the lil mech fly back from just firing the gun. Now THAT'S comedy
