Sony is pulling the 20 gig off the market in the USA. This is shortly after Microsoft announced the 360 Elite with the 120 gig hard drive and HDMI output at $479.99 USD.
This means

360 Standard - $299.99
360 Premium - $399.00
360 Elite - $479.99
360 Std w/HD-DVD - $499.99
PS3 - $599.99
360 w/HD-DVD - $599.99
360 Elite w/ HD-DVD -$679.99 _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it. They recreate the past, changing it to fit their own interpretations. Thus, they change the future as well." - Leto II

And not to be outdone by not having the most expensive console on the market, SONY is likely to announce an 80 gig model PS3 soon.
Yay for free market competition! _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it. They recreate the past, changing it to fit their own interpretations. Thus, they change the future as well." - Leto II

Until i have enough cash left for a new Personal Computer ( = Mac mini in my case ) i intend to use my brand new PS3 with Linux as PC and BD/DVD-Player.
The SCRAP M$ sells under the name Xbox isnt good enough for me, especially as it isnt cheaper than the PS3 if you add the HD-DVD, HDD and Xbox Life.
It is my opinion that in the long term the PS3 will FLY because of its BD drive and its support for Linux.

A REAL enthusiast knows a MAC is an overpriced, underpowered piece of crap. If you are REALLY an enthusiast, you build your own PC for 1/4 the price and have a much better more effecient machine.

Ok, my next computer will be a MAC MINI, please show me how you can build your own PC for 1/4 of the price of a MAC MINI that is more efficient and much better !
For me any PC which isnt at least as SILENT as the Mac Mini and needs more power isnt better and more efficent, it is just a useless piece of SCRAP !

PS: 600 $ / 4 = 150 $ ... i am sure nobody sells a new PC with Windows Vista, 1.67 GHz Core Duo CPU, 512 MB RAM and a 60 GB Harddisk including Install-DVD's and printed documentation for such a low price to EVERYONE !

SONY just dropped the 60gig model to $500 and announced a 80gig for $600 price point soon.
Still no exclusives on the shelf worth buying it for. As good as Resistance is, its no Halo (which I hate, btw).
Future (way future) exclusives that'll move systems are still only Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy XIII.
Grand Theft Auto IV will have 360 down loadable add-ons.
Mass Effect is still exclusive to 360
Ace Combat 6 is online exclusive for 360 at this time (single player demo hit yesterday....DAMN).
Madden on 360 will run at 60fps, only 30fps on PS3
Thats all news from E3 the last few days. There has been more...but those are key points. Microsoft is still on top atm. I give it another year before the PS3 really starts to move the mountain. _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it. Especially i miss a PAL PS3 release of the PS2 game FFXI, which only was released in the US because it needs a HDD ( I hate SE for releasing FFXI for the Xbox 360 but not for the PS3 ! )

I look at the official release lists every day at work...there is very little coming out 2007 for the PS3. 360 has almost too much...
As for FFXI...its on PC as well. And not very good either! _________________ "Historians exercise great power and some of them know it. They recreate the past, changing it to fit their own interpretations. Thus, they change the future as well." - Leto II

I usually prefer to play with hardware as good as that of the other players in this game, so i prefer consoles for playing games as i cant afford to pay more than 4k€ for a GAMER-PC
MfG, MEX
PS: Last week i finaly got the 20GB PS3 i bought at eBay for ~200€
Now i only need a PS2-FFXI as new as possible for it ...

Wow what a difference 2 years make.
I am now the proud owner of a PS3. And I will admit that it was mostly my wife that wanted to get it. but for me it was the game selection that tipped me. GT5 (though we are still waiting for the rest of it), Metal Gear Solid 4 (finished it 3 times and still love it), And most recently Uncharted 2.
I just finished Uncharted 2. Absolutely amazing and honestly one of the best games I have played in a long long time. One of the few PS3 exclusives that is and should be system seller.
But as for the whole flop thing. I have to say no. the PS3 si NOT a flop. Sony seems to have made the right choice with the Blu-Ray this time. When HD disks dissapeared, that really gave the PS3 a boost. That and the 30 to 35% failure rate of the Xbox 360 has caused some serious problems for the system.
In time the PS3 will fly, especially now that the price has come down. And as developers get more familar with the system and the Cell processor, I think we will eventually see a shift game focus.
The Wii appears to be in a class by its self. _________________ Stinger If it's "creepy" to use the Internet, military satellites, and robot aircraft to find a house full of gorgeous young models so I can drop in on them unexpected, then FINE, I'm "creepy". Howard Wolowitz. BBT.

I now have my THIRD PS3 8)
This weekend i bought a 60GB US-PS3 with a not working BD for 121 Euro at eBay from someone only a few kilometers away from my residence in Vienna ... now i can swap the drive from my 20GB US-PS3 with the defect drive and sell or repair die 20GB US-PS3 which i bought as reserve for my 60GB EU-PS3 after the warranty has worn off
MfG, MEX
PS: I dont like the PS3slim ... because they have removed the ability to install another Operating System, like LINUX
And all my 3 PS3 are able to play PS2 games too
