Behemoth class dropship, 100,000 tons.

IIRC it's a cargo dropship. "Good" depends on what you do with it.

Isn't the Behemoth Dropship the one that rarely makes planetfall (more of a space-bound transport)?

100,00 tons.Big boy."good" means Mech space/and or vehicle and Infantry space.I tend to only use Large Dropships for City takings by hot dropping assaults into them.

If i remember right, it can't even enter a planet's atmosphere. Dropship here sounds wrong.... it's just a cargoship.

On another note. Bigger isn't always better

You are correct, the dropship's structure cannot handle any planetary gravity and will be crushed if subjected to it. It uses a large fleet of cargo shuttles to move goods from orbit to surface.

The mammoth. Another Cargo Hauler. Its about half the size of a Behemoth.

I believe that a Behemoth was once used to take out a warship by ramming...

If you are looking for something that can combat assault a LZ, then a Mammoth might be a tad vulnerable. I think the Fortress is the largest combat assault capable dropship ( please correct me if I am wrong). It would ruin your day if you planned a major asault, amassed the mechs, vehicles and troops, and briefed your command staff on the plan only to have your big lumbering cargo ship taken out by a few PPC hits.

52,000 tons.
Speed 3/5

6 officers, 27 crew, 2 gunners.

2 cargo bays, both at 18,630 tons w. 3 doors.
1 small craft bay w. 4 small craft, 4 doors.
6 escape pods.

Cost 450-460 million C-bills.

Im not planning on using a mammoth even if i had one.I am just curious as to the largest Dropship that can Land on a planet.I use OVerlords for Heavy assaults, and unions and confeds for lighter attacks.

How about stuffing a Mammoth with explosives? I'm sure House Kurita could find a motivated crew for a suicide attack on a clanner target.

Here's a suggestion one-eye.

Read up a little more about battletech and the universe.. there are many sites up there can help.
Take a look at Mordel's links.

Classic Battletech's site should be able to fill you in on most of the basic history while www.mechground.com/battletech.ca can fill you in on most of the TRO info along with their fluff.

Much better than continually asking questions.

Like the techies always say.. RTFM
