Americans:
Spain has been a faithful ally and friend of the US in the war against terror, supporting the US efforts to fight Al Qaeda. Spain had been preaching for years before the events of 9-11 that terrorism is an international problem.
Now, you can help in the fight against terror. Please take a minute to sign this petition, and pass this petition to as many people as you can.

Could CNN use a bit of decency, and stop calling ETA "separatists" and use the correct term (endorsed by the US Government and the EU ) for them which is no other than TERRORISTS.
Podria la CNN tener un poco de decencia y dejar de llamar a ETA “separatistas” y usar el nombre correcto para ellos que no es otro que TERRORISTAS.

my heartfelt thanks to you.
However, I just received the unpleasant notification that I have been banned from the CBT Message Board by posting the same position in the Off Topic board under the pretense

Could you look into the matter please? It's ok if the petition cannot be posted in the CBT board, but I strongly disagree with it being "political" in nature. Petitioning for awareness aboutcrime is not "political" in any way!
If I can't post the petition there, no problem, though it disappoints me, but I think the ban is undeserved.

There might be some confusion about what, exactly, the petition is about. I seem to remember that the Batasuna party was recently declared illegal in Spain and their assets confiscated. Someone could get the idea you're repressing minorities there, making petitions suspect.

There's nothing I can do about that Vampire. My hands are tied. I no longer have anything to do with the message board or website. I recommend that you talk with Peter or Paul and explain yourself as you did here and see what happens.

Batasuna was not a political party, it was not the political wing of the terrorists, but it was part of the organization of the terrorist band using "political" activities as a front for various terrorist supporting activities, extorsion, finances, recruitment, etc... it was undecisiveness and hesitation by successive democratic governments that enabled them to act with impunity for so long.
No more, investigation proved beyond doubt that Batasuna was part of a larger criminal group, not a legitimate political party.
FYI, Batasuna has been included in the list of terrorist organizations of the EU and the US department of state.

This just in.
This night at 01:00 local time police has arrested two terrorists driving a HUGE bomb truck.
500 kilos primed and fused and ready to be blown up in Madrid.
EDIT: If it had exploded if would have caused a 35 metros, irreparable damage in buildings in a radius of 60 meters and the safety distance for unprotected people would have been 1.500 meters.
In a nutshell: Like the Oklahoma city bombing if not worse.
As you might now, Spain national government election campaign began just yesterday.
ETA is on the way to defeat, each year more terrorists are captured and their killings have been droppping. In fact, it's 9 months since they last killed somebody.
Spanish police has avoided a tragedy of catastrophic dimensions... the ETA terrorists so weakened have resorted to attempt wholesale undiscriminated slaughter in an desperate attempt to stave off their increasing irrelevancy.
To give you an idea of what kind of mayhem these monsters are capable of, their last aborted bombing in Madrid was to place two suitcases packed with explosives on board two passenger trains bound for Madrid, to explode in the central station on Xmas crowded with people.
To get an idea of the magnitude of the carnage, look at the latest Chechen terrorist bombing in Moscow metro weeks ago.
No idea yet of what was the objective of this death truck, but it is enough to give everybody a chill.
By the way, I'm sending this petition to several blogs and the online editions of Spain's newspaper. Perhaps peer pressure will finally force some media to abandon their obscene moral ambiguity.

OK. Just one possible reason I came to think of. AFAIK most of the things the ETA claims to fight for have already been granted, and most of the Basqe (sp?) people couldn't care less about the rest.
The other reason would be the thread on top of CBT's Off-Topic section where we're told that threads on politics or religion will be deleted. That petition could be seen as a violation, you know. It would be polite to warn you before kicking you in any case.

Vampire was banned not for this single instance of violation of policy, but for multiple counts, as is clearly stated in our posting policy rules...
