BattleMech: Masakari (Warhawk) C

Comment: This is the mech you choose when enemies need to go down and fast. This Masakari will hit just about anything it shoots at and has the heat sinks to alpha every other turn.

As others have said, this mech depending on where you are playing can be considered an 'oulawed' design. Which should immediately tell you this mech is awesome.

Don't pay attention to the low scores this design was given because it is considered 'too good'. If you are allowed to use, field it and enjoy.

BattleMech: Daishi (Dire Wolf) "Widowmaker"

Comment: Best Daishi variant. This machine can hurt you at any range and has enough armor to shrug off a lot of damage.

This was the personal ride of Natasha Kerensky, but that does not mean you need an elite pilot to take full advantage of this mech's arsenal.

I would argue that this variant is even better than the vaunted Masakari C because if you stay at range you die and if you close the Daishi Widowmaker has an AC/20 Ultra to ruin your day.

BattleMech: Blood Asp C

Comment: Far too ammo dependent for a Clan assault. Easily gets taken out at range by both IS and Clan opponents. There are better variants than this, no need to use it.

Comment: Strange array of weapons and not enough heat sinks to properly use them. This design is fun to play and useful but the AC/2s are out of place and should be replaced by an AC/20. Then your enemies would have a real problem to deal with.

Comment: I like the addition of the Jump Jets and Targeting Computer on this design but the Heavy Lasers ruined it. The outrageous heat they generate and +1 modifier are not worth the extra damage. This mech barely has enough heat sinks to keep up with its weapons it cannot alpha-strike.

BattleMech: Penetrator PTR-4D

Comment: This mech is terrible for many reasons:
1. Inner Sphere ER Large Lasers are horrible weapons they generate too much heat for mediocre damage and lack the range to be a sniping weapon.
2. Inner Sphere Medium Pulse Lasers are also terrible they shoot 6 hexes!
3. This mech is too slow to get close enough to use the pulse lasers, which leaves you plinking away with the ER Larges
