BattleMech: Mad Cat Crazy Kitty
Rating: 3.00
Comment: C'mon, lighten up people. Yeah its not extremely strictly speaking a Timberwolf, but then it couldn't have the name Mad Cat Crazy Kitty! How can you hate on a mech with such a name?

This mech I would rate as about average on its own merits. I'm not really convinced of the usefullness of small lasers, but other than that the design is solid, but no spectacular.

BattleMech: Berserker BRZ-A3
Rating: 3.00
Comment: Why do some people seem to get mesmorized by 100 ton mechs with hachets? I read an article online once on the subject of physical attacks in BattleTech where the author had a good quote: "Even if you get your 20 point hachet attack in once, you won't twice." That being said, any opponent with half a brain is going to maul this thing with a lance of Locusts and keep the big boys out of its way. Why should I field this trash heap when I can field a much more useful mech like the Devastator or Thunderhawk (both of which have twice the firepower of the Berserker) ?

By the way, the flamer in the head makes this mech looks like one of those robot dinosaurs that eat cars at monster truck rallys.

BattleMech: Thunder Hawk TDK-7X
Rating: 4.50
Comment: This is an awesome Inner Sphere mech, but looks terrible (I use a Behemoth minature instead). Overall though a good design, and great for fighting clanners, just like the equally good Devastator and Fafnir.

BattleMech: Atlas AS7-S
Rating: 3.00
Comment: This Atlas is better than the pile of crap AS7-K, but it still needs a lot of work. First of all, it has a standard engine and a lot of ammo, yet no CASE! That just can't be done. Also I agree with some of the previous reviewers that the Streak SRMs should be facing forward, although I personally would dump all the SRMs and rear-mounted medium lasers to put an ER large laser in each arm. Finally an LB-X or even better an Ultra autocannon really should be used on a mech like the Atlas; I don't know why the designers are cutting corners on a flagship mech like this.

Also I tend to disapprove of unrealistic things like putting ammo in the mechs legs, but that's just me.

BattleMech: Pillager PLG-3Z
Rating: 3.00
Comment: On its own the Pillager is a pretty decent mech, but compared to the other Inner Sphere 100 tonners in the same Technical Readout the Pillager falls a bit short. Why field the Pillager when you can field a Devastator or Thunderhawk (both of which are significantly better in my opinion)? It's definitely not one of crappy Inner Sphere 100 ton designs, but not one of the best either.

BattleMech: Gladiator (Executioner) PRIME
Rating: 2.50
Comment: I've never been a fan of the Gladiator. It always struck me as sort of a wannabe Battlemaster. But realistically the main thing I don't like about it is lowers itself to Inner Sphere level firepower in order be able to move 4/6/4. I personally don't consider the trade-off worth it; if I wanted a 4/6/4 mech I'd use the much better Thor. An Inner Sphere assault mech can go toe-to-toe with this and face even odds, that doesn't make this a particular good choice.

BattleMech: Catapult CPLT-C1
Rating: 2.00
Comment: I've never cared for using mechs to launch LRMs in support of other mechs. Why use one of your precious mechs when an LRM carrier will do the job better and at a fraction of the cost? I guess if money is no object this mech is feasible, but why use vehicles at all then? The catapult serves a role tailor-made for a vehicle so thus I never use it. Plus with just LRM 15s and no Artemis this usually does minimal damage and has no impact on the outcome of the battle.

BattleMech: Loki (Hellbringer) PRIME
Rating: 2.00
Comment: The Loki is typical of so many of the official designs where they'd be good with just a few changes. It seems like the designers wanted to show off a lot of fancy clan equipment on one mech, sort of like a concept car. Just removing the nearly useless equipment like the A-pods and ECM and adding heat sinks would make this mech far better. And if you want to go even farther, there's room for endo steel/ferro-fibrous and you can use the tonnage to maximize the armor and add more heat sinks.

Overall, a good chassis but poor in this prime configuration.

BattleMech: Annihilator ANH-1A
Rating: 1.00
Comment: The firepower and heat-dissipation ability of the Annihilator are good, but 2/3 movement and 12.5 tons of armor on a 100 ton mech is just unacceptable. The 2/3 movement means the Annihilator is basically just a barely-movable pillbox and with the lack of armor there is no way it can last in fights with other 100 tonners. Plus this mech just looks stupid as hell too; it looks like reject droid from Star Wars.

BattleMech: Charger CGR-1A1
Rating: 0.00
Comment: The Charger is probably the worst mech of all time. For the same tonnage as an Awesome you get a mech that has less firepower than half a dozen infantrymen. And physical attacks are extremely hard to hit people with when they know that what you're trying to do, which pretty much means this mech is good as a temporary distraction and no more. And I don't buy the scouting role either, as once the Charger gets spotted it can get violated by even the lighted of mechs.
