BattleMech: Mach V MCV-1

Comment: Pretty good design to compete with the Cheetah. Does the TSM affect the charging damage? If so that would be a more powerful impact than melee combat. The extended range of the weapons gives the pilot time to fire his weapons at a target before he passes them by. The speed is phenominal on this mech which is aptly named. The thick armor on this design gives it some survivability in case of impact with large imobile objects(assault mechs). And coupled with the speed makes this unit difficult to take down without stopping it. Add to that the electronics suites and this speed demon can lope on by you almost undetected and can find you before you see him.

BattleMech: Guardian

Comment: I have to admit, as an urban riot control mech this thing fulfills it's purpose.
Not real fast, doesn't have to be in a city. Heavy armor for it's weight class, needs it for it will be assaulted from all sides though I think the rear armor needs beefed a little bit. Jumpjets add to the versatility of the design; a definite plus in an urban environment. The weapon loadout is great at it's intended purpose; MG's to take down large crowds of rioters. The mediium lasers are a good choice for back-up weapons just in case something heavier than people show up to test the local armed forces strength.
If used almost anywhere open this unit will find itself outclassed by about anything unless the pilot can use terrain to his/her advantage and get close for hit and fade manuevers.

BattleMech: Commando COM-4F
Rating: 3.00
Comment: I actually like this variant. I like commandos though so I may be biased. However if you can ignore the fact that this is a support mech then you can call this a not so good design. Again, however this unit IS a support mech. At 6/9 this unit is fast for it's day(3025) and with the 3 LRM launchers does not need to close with the enemy, that's it's lancemates' jobs. He is covering fire only, either in a line battle or on fast paced action. The armor is adequate for it's size(though it's 64 armor points not 62) and should keep it running if it receives some return fire. Though if it's lancemates are doing their jobs then this unit should receive little to no return fire as the enemy forces should be concentrating on the closer units.

BattleMech: Scorcher SCR-1MB

Comment: Excellent design sir!
I had hoped that someone out there would design a mech for a singular purpose other than arena combat. Seems everyone is giving ideas that would enhance the design for mech on mech combat or similar.
But I digress.
The speed is just superb for the intended use of the design as are the electronics package. Though I was wondering at the possibility of adding a tag unit or narc launcher for mission specific actions.( Possible omni conversion for electronics?) The weapons are good choice as they don't eat the ammo with wasted shots and for the missions this thing will be on you need that long lasting reserves. Also if this machine is using up it's ammo on a mission then it's not being used correctly. This is not a combat machine, says so in the overview. If you see enemy units and you cannot hide, you can outrun them with ease.

BattleMech: Uller G
Rating: 3.00
Comment: Nice design. Very similar to Puma prime though lighter and jump capable. Good for under bidding another star commander for combat rights. Good weapons loadout and manueverability for it's intended use, long term behind the lines unit. However the armor tells me not to stay in someone's crosshairs longer than I have to, but with it's movement capabilities it shouldn't be a problem unless the terrain is really open. Though with it's range that can be offset.

BattleMech: Renegade REN-1

Comment: I really like this design!
With average speed and heavy armor for it's size this unit will go far in helping the fedcom's rebuilding process. The weapon load out is suprisingly balanced and effective.
While not on a par of some heavies and most assault class mech this unit, when used in group manuevers should be very effective on the battlefield. Though not jump capable it can keep up with comparable units which, in large scale encounters, is what really matters.

BattleMech: Cheetah B
Rating: 3.50
Comment: I like this machine! It's armor is beefy for it's weight class, it's speed is awesome, and the weapon loadout is matched for it's armor and speed characteristics. This thing can catch almost any vehicle out there. Scout hovercraft giving you problems? Not with the speed this thing has, anything that can move as fast or faster cannot match it's weapons and armor. Infantry? The MG's tear them up. Battlesuits? This thing could round them up and pick them off easily with hardly any effective return fire. Scout? as I said, if you can't catch them with this mech you should call in an airstrike.

BattleMech: Valkyrie VLK-QD1
Rating: 3.00
Comment: The Valkyrie was designed as a scout hunter. I think that the weapon combo is efficient at reaching out to tag a scout mech that it can't keep up with to persuade it to scout elsewhere.

BattleMech: Stinger STG-5M
Rating: 2.00
Comment: I'm thinking that this would be an okay design for elemental hunting. Not sure what the effects of flamers on battlesuits, if it's nominal then swap it out for second medium laser or upgrade the medium to a pulse. Just depends on whether you prefer to have extra firepower or easier time shooting the elementals out of the air.

BattleMech: Gurkha GUR-4G
Rating: 4.00
Comment: I like this design!
Think about it, heavy close in firepower+decent armor+high speed+C3 link= Bait. Add this mech to a lance of fast long range pummelers and you have a deadly combo even on heavy mechs. This mech doesn't have to give and take a pounding in a stand up fight but just has to stay close to the target so his support units could utilize the C3 link to rain destruction from afar.
